We're back this week with our picks, and we hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving with their friends and families this week. This week my buddy and a fellow DSS writer, Suman, is filling in with his picks for IP. This is his first time, but Suman knows his NFL, so let's see how he does. Gluck playaz...

Suman's Pix:

Saints at Bucs (Saints +4)

Maybe I'm making a rookie mistake since the Saints have a short week, are coming off a big emotional win, and have to travel to Tampa Bay, but I think 4 points is too much to give either way. I think the game comes down to the final possession. Drew Brees is playing out of his mind, and gets Reggie Bush back this week. I'll take the MVP candidate and the points.

Steelers at Pats (Patriots -1)

Now that Matt Cassell has the full "Tom Brady Playbook" at his disposal, and Peyton Manning is starting to get more and more of his pieces back together doesn't a traditional Pats/Colts AFC championship look more and more probable? The Cassell audition for a huge offseason contract continues and I like him to perform well in this big game, at home. Meanwhile, the Steelers seem to have a huge game every week, and that's got to take an emotional toll eventually. I think the Steelers have to play a perfect game to steal this one with all the injuries they have, and I don't see that happening.

Broncos at Jets (Jets -8)

Thomas Jones. Playing as good as any running back in the league, and against one of the most porous defenses in the league. The Jets are maybe the hottest team in the league, and the Broncos pass D is terrible. Even if they get back Champ this week, the Jets have too many weapons in this one, and I think they run away with this one.

Fins at Rams (Dolphins -8)

The Rams are playing horrible ball right now. I don't like taking big favs like this on the road, but I'm pretty sure the Rams are starting my boy Tony Pittman at RB. Marc Bulger is a mess, Torry Holt officially got old and almost fucked up my fantasy team, and the Rams D can't tackle. On the flip side, Chad Pennington has been stringing along good game after good game. Look for a wildcat revival this week, as I see Ronnie Brown or Ricky Williams or maybe both having a huge day. Of course, if Steven Jackson comes back to play this week this could all change.

Falcons at Chargers (Falcons +5)

This is going to prove whether the Falcons are for real or not. The Chargers are a team that are right on the brink of folding for the season, and not making the playoffs. They've lost quite a few tough games, and LDT seems to have lost a step. If the Falcons are for real they will stomp on the Charger throats and finish them off. Michael Turner makes his return to The Whale's Vagina, and I see him outplaying LDT. More important than all this, Matt Ryan and Phillip Rivers look exactly alike.

Vik's Pix:
(Last week 2-2-1)
(Overall 30-22-2)

Colts at Browns (Colts -4)

I'm definitely giving the pts in this game. In my opinion, this game is a battle of two teams completely headed in opposite directions. The Browns last week proved to me the hard way (I bet on them), that their season is officially a wrap. They couldn't even beat the Texans at home, so I just don't see how they are going to stop a streaking Colts team, and Peyton Manning this weekend. The Browns secondary is weak, and I look for Peyton to exploit them. The Colts also have won 4 in a row, and Manning is 4-0 vs the Browns in the past team matchups. The Colts are also 2-0 vs the AFC North this season, already beating the two best teams in the division, the Steelers, and the Ravens. Both those teams in my opinion are a lot better than the Browns. On the injury front, the Colts are a lot healthier than the Browns as well. On the QB front, Derek Anderson is back at the helm for the Browns, but he has struggled all season long, and it even seems to me that the team has kind of given up on him. Overall, the Browns biggest weakness all season long has been their defense in my opinion, and I think they get torched this weekend by one of the best in the game. All the numbers point to the Colts in this one, and with them needing every win they can get being the hunt for the wild card, I will ride with the Colts in this one.

Ravens at Bengals (Ravens -7)

The Ravens really need this win to stay in the playoff hunt, and I don't think they will have a let down in this game. All season long, the Ravens have beaten every single team they have faced vs a losing record. They are actually 5-0 in that spot, and that shows me that their coach has them extremely focused, they don't underestimate anyone, and that they ready to play every single week. That is exactly how they have to play this weekend, and they will beat the Bungles by a couple of touchdowns. With some hard games coming up for the Ravens, they can not afford to struggle tomorrow. We all know about the Ravens defense, so I don't even need to talk about them here. But, their offense has been surprisingly good all season long, especially their QB Joe Flacco. The Ravens are 5-1 in their last six games, and Flacco has been great with 9 touchdown passes. With the Bungles secondary in shambles, look for Flacco and the Ravens to have a field day passing the ball in this game. I have ultimate confidence in their D shutting down the Bungles, especially their run defense which hasn't given up a running td in 9 of 11 weeks. The Bungles offense has struggled the past few weeks, and it doesn't get any easier for them vs this Ravens D. Look for this defense to abuse Fitz all day. This will be a waxing from the get go, I'll definitely give the pts.

Steelers at Pats (Pats -1)

I hate betting against the Steelers, because if they win, my friend Cohin will write 24 comments on this post, and he will send 22 emails about how the Steelers won the game and I suck, but even with all of that, I am willing to go with the Pats in this one. I really think they win this game, as they are peaking at the right time. Cassel has been on fire the last two weeks, with back to back 400 yard games. Take a second to think about this, even Tom Brady has never done that in the past with this Pats squad, so that is sick. The Main question is how will Cassel handle the Steelers blitzing defense and pressure. I personally think he will do well, and his legs and brains will be the deciding factor in that matchup. Also, the Hoody monster will have a solid gameplan ready for this matchup, like always, especially on how to pressure Big Ben. That being said, the coaching matchup is another advantage for the Pats in this game. On the Steelers side, they are hurting right now. They have been resilient all year long, but they have struggled through a lot of games. Their Oline is absolutely horrendous, and poor Big Ben has literally been getting murdered all year long. That will definitely continue this weekend, with Richard Seymour looking to feast on Steelers LT Marvel Smith. Look for a big game from him tomorrow. Big Ben has still been great this season, but I think his run stops this weekend in New England. The Steelers are also missing one of their most important weapons in FWP, and that really hurts them this weekend, especially if there is bad weather during the game like predicted. Look for this to be a close, hard fought game, between two great Rivals in the League, but I see the Pats pulling away late in this one.

Falcons vs Chargers (Falcons +5)

I've been fading the Chargers pretty much every single weekend this year, and it has been very profitable. Especially since they are Ip's favorite team, and he jinxes them every weekend. But real talk here, The Chargers are just not that good of a football team, even with all that talent on the offensive side of the ball. The reason they are so bad is their defense. They are the worst pass defense in the game, and that is bad news for them this weekend facing a nice QB in Matt Ryan. The Chargers also have real difficulty getting pressure on their opposing QB's, and the Falcons already have a good offensive line, which could spell doom for this Chargers team in this game. No matter how good the Chargers offense is, and how badly they need to win this game, their Defensive shortcomings are not going overnight. This weakness will lead to their demise. For the Falcons, I think they proved last weekend that they are here to stay, and that they are not a fluke. They got a huge win vs division rival Carolina last weekend, which will definitely build some confidence for this solid, young team. I also like the Falcons in this game for a couple of other reasons. I know the Charges run defense is good, but I think Turner the Burner is going to have a huge game in this one, because he will want to show up his old team, and prove to them that he is a big time runner. The other reason I love the Falcons in this game, is the battle in the trenches. The Falcons have the better and more physical lines on both side of the ball, especially on the Defensive side. They have been great all year long, and I really think they will dominate this game. Overall I think RWhite, Douglas, and Jenkins are going to tear up this weak Chargers secondary all game long, and that will keep them in the game all day. I will gladly take the points in this one.

Panthers at Packers (Packers -3) - I think I am making this pick strictly for jinxing purposes, hoping the Packers lose this game!!! Naw, I actually think the Packers win this game by at least a touchdown, so I am taking them in this spot. I see them bouncing back at home this weekend, in basically what becomes a must win game for them if they want to stay in the NFC North division race. The Panthers will look to run the ball vs a struggling Packers run defense, but the Panthers run defense is just as bad on their side of the ball, allowing five rushing TD's to the Falcons just last week. I also think AR will have a good bounce back game in this one, especially with James Jones back as WR3. I look for the Packers to exploit the Panthers Nickel D going with a lot of 3 and even 4 WR sets throughout the game. The Packers got absolutely embarrassed on Monday Night, but that was on the road, vs a jacked up team and a rowdy crowd. Being at home will definitely help the Packers in this game. The Panthers have struggled on the road this year, and in the bad weather and cold tomorrow, I got to stick with the home team in this one.

Remember we bought the hooks with all our bets, and good luck to everyone this weekend. Since there is no point talking about how great they have been, learn how to ball fake from the Machine.

   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQU-xfpaYF4

Boston Celtics (13-2) – Ditto.

Cleveland Cavaliers (10-3) – Only losses coming to good teams on the road. Big difference from years past when they lost to sub .500 teams regularly.

Denver Nuggets (9-5) – Nuggets have looked really impressive after the trade. Look for Melo to bust out of this mini-slump and putting up big numbers.

Houston Rockets (10-5) – Four road wins in the past week. How long will Yao and T-Mac’s bodies hold up?

Phoenix Suns (9-5) – Thus far they have been mildly inconsistent. Not sure if they have the right guys to play this new style for the long haul.

Orlando Magic (10-4) – Still don’t love them in the big picture, but Howard and company keep racking up the wins.

Atlanta Hawks (8-5) – Who would have thought the Hawks have a home court advantage???

Detroit Pistons (8-5) – Disappointing effort in a home loss brought back memories of days gone by and knocked them off what might have been a top-3 ranking.

San Antonio Spurs (7-6) – You don’t think the Spurs are going to be a factor down the stretch? Please. The Big Fun might get some MVP talk, not that he cares about it, if he holds down the fort without Manu and Tony.

Portland Trailblazers (9-6) – I think most sensible humans figured that the team would regress slightly as Oden got assimilated into the rotation. Maintaining a decent record in the process is just a bonus.

New Orleans Hornets (8-5) – Flying under the radar thus far. Do you realize either Rob Horry (7 rings), Steve Kerr (5) or James Posey (2) have been on the NBA Champion’s roster every season since ’93-’94, except for the ’04 Pistons?

Utah Jazz (9-6) – Boy seems like a lot of teams battling injuries are staying afloat.

Philadelphia 76ers (7-7) – Did Iggy stop trying after he got paid? The Summer must have been fun for him.

New Jersey Nets (6-6) – Does anyone even watch their games? Marv and Mike would be the only reason to tune in, I love those guys!

Chicago Bulls (7-8) – As a follower of LeBron’s every move his rookie year, I must say Rose is a better finisher than he was at that stage. He was unreal the last two minutes in Utah. I couldn’t help but laugh when Larry and Drew embraced after the game winner. Boys for life!

Miami Heat (7-7) – I wonder how much D. Cook, Chalmers and Beasley love the club life?

Dallas Mavericks (6-7) – For the 80123491029425th time in the last 2 years, BREAK UP THE TEAM! It’s over!

Milwaukee Bucks (7-9) – Did anyone else watch Richard Jefferson dunking on Frankie Muniz in the 2004 All-Star Weekend Celebrity Game? Why was he in that game? Why did he try so hard? What a tool?

Toronto Raptors (6-7) – I must ask. Isn’t Chris Bosh pretty much the same guy J-O’Neal was for a brief period in Indy?

Indiana Pacers (5-7) – Is Danny Granger the prototypical future All-Star that will never be the best player on a champion? Think Mike Redd.

Golden State Warriors (5-8) – Get well soon Monte. I can’t wait to see you running up and down with Crawford.

New York Knicks (7-6) – Nice record but the fire sale, including one of my favorite players, JC, isn’t going to help them. That said, as a lifetime Cavalier Fan, consider me fearful of 2010.

Charlotte Bobcats (4-9) – My boy Cohin (also a DSS contributor) once got dunked on by Gerald Wallace in the Alabama State High School playoffs. True story.

Sacramento Kings (5-11) – Zanesville’s finest, Kevin Martin, is destined for the Danny G. career trajectory. Sorry man, could be worse though…

Memphis Grizzlies (4-10) – Like Rudy Gay, who might never fulfill the potential.

Minnesota Timberwolves (3-9) – Al Jefferson is a baller.

Los Angeles Clippers (2-12) – I’ve searched the entire Internet, but have yet to find any legal troubles for Ricky D. All I found were those pictures of him with those potentially teenage white chicks. Let it be known that he used to donate tickets to his fan clubs in Cleveland and Boston. Misunderstood guy.

Oklahoma City Thunder (1-13) – I always thought Kevin Durant was overrated. As much as the action of the sports gets us riled up and entertained, it is compulsory there be good commercials to complement, producing an overall great day for football junkies like us.

After seeing the sad attempts at commercials by Bud Light’s “Drinkability,” and Miller Lite’s “More Taste League,” it compels one to appreciate the humor and originality of the Coors Light ad campaign over the years. I enjoy them so much, that Coors has actually become my default beer, and it’s not half bad. We love the “Let’s Vent” episodes, but below we have ranked the top 5 commercials in one of the most clever ad campaigns ever. We cannot wait to see what they come up with once Singletary retires!

#5)

#4)

#3)

#2)

#1)
Subscribe Now

STONE COLD LEAD PIPE DOCKS

Sup everyone, we hope you are doing well. We are back this week with our Stone Cold Lead Pipe Docks of the Week. Hopefully we can both have winning weekends this week, and win some $$$.

On a side note, I had a bad football weekend last weekend to say the least. I go 1-4 on Pix and the Bears got embarrassed vs the Packers. To tell you the truth, I'm still recovering from the as$ whopping the Packers gave the Bears. I've been going to Bears games for 21 years now, and I think this Packers loss is probably the 2nd worst game I have ever been to in my life. The first being the Bears loss to the Eagles in the playoffs in 2001. The 3rd being the Bears Bucs game I went to this year, the home opener. So I've been to 2 out of the 3 worst games of my life this year. That's crazy considering all the bad Bears teams I've followed throughout these years. So for that I would like to say THANKS 2008 BEARS, THANKS!!! Anyways, I'm really hoping the Bears can get their act together in these last 6 games of the year to make a playoff run. Ok enough of that now, let's get to business. Here are our picks of the week, gluck!!!

IP's PIX:
(Last week 3-2)
(Overall 23-26-1)

Packers at Saints (Saints -3) – The Packers are coming off an absolute trouncing of the Midway Monsters….they made them look like a high school team last Sunday. This week they will be looking to carry that momentum into New Orleans, however I don't think they can duplicate that performance. The packers have a good balance on offense and a solid defense, but Drew Brees and company are an offensive juggernaut. Look for the Saint to march up and down the field and win this game by a touch. Saints 31-24

Giants at Cardinals (Giants -3) – This is the battle of the big dogs in the NFC. Eli and the squad go down to the dessert for a showdown with the prolific Kurt Warner and his offense. Warner could very well be the MVP of the NFL thus far; however the Giants are the best team. The Giants will control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball and put a lot of pressure on Warner. I like the Giants in this one by 6. Giants 30-24

Jets at Titans (Jets +6) – The undefeated Titans have run away and hid from the rest of the AFC, they are just looking to lock up home field throughout the playoffs. The Jets are in a dogfight in their divisional race with two other teams. Look for Brett Favre and company to turn up the intensity on the road and get after the Titans. This game will be a back and forth affair but I see the Jets giving the Titans their first loss. Jets 27-24

Patriots at Dolphins (Pats +1) – A huge AFC divisional match up right here between the Pats and the Fins. Last week Matt Cassel had his coming out party, he displayed why Bellichucky had him down as Brady's backup. The Dolphins are well coached and disciplined and that Wildcat set is tough to handle. This is a big divisional game with playoff implications, with that said how can I go against the hoody? Look for the Patriots to be well prepared and beat the Dolphins by a touch. Patriots 28-21

Vikings at Jaguars (Jags -2) – The Jaguars lost a lead against the Titans last week and lost ground in the race for a wild card spot. The jaguars need this win just as bad as the Vikings do to keep pace in the NFC North. This game will be a grind it out smash mouth game and I feel the Jaguars will get the win and keep their slim hope alive for a playoff berth. Jaguars 27-17

<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt; Pix:

(Last Week 1-4)

I'm going with a couple of Dogs this week, so gluck...

Pats at Fins (Pats +1) - A lot of people are saying the Pats perennial reign on the division is over after their loss to the Jets last weekend. But, I'm not one of those people. I still think this Pats team has something left in the tank, and won't believe that they are done unless they loose this weekend. The Pats got three things going for them in this game. First, they want revenge from the stomping they took by the Fins the first time they played this year, and because Joey Porter is running his mouth again. He has talked smack about the Pats all week, so I'm sure they are ready to make him pay. Second, the Hoody monster has had 10 days to prepare for this game, and we all know what the Hoody monster is capable of in terms of developing schemes and things. Third, if the Pats lose this game, they will probably be out of the playoff hunt, so it is definitely a must win for them, and like I said earlier, I don't think the Pats are done for just yet. Also real quick, I think the game will come down to these three things, and if the Pats do these three things, they will win. First, win the Special Teams battle. Hobbs is one of the best returners in the game, and the Fins struggle on Special Teams. Second, stop the run. Third, pressure Pennington. I really do think they will take care of all of these things, so I will be taking the Pats in this game.

Colts at Chargers (Colts +3) - The Charger are really struggling this year, especially in their last four games. They have lost 3 out of their last 4 games, and their only win was vs the lowly Chiefs by a point. I look for their losing ways to continue with another loss vs a rejuvenated Colts team. Yes the Chargers have played well at home this year, but I don't think that will figure into this one that much. The Colts sometimes struggle in bad weather, but we all know the weather in SD is always perfect, and will be nice Sunday. I also have personally been to Qualcomm Stadium, and honestly, their home field advantage isn't as great as the other ones out there. Their stadium is usually inhabited with a lot of the oppositions fans, and isn't even really that loud other then when they all do the LT LT chant when LT gets a TD. The Chargers secondary is also struggling right now with injuries with rookies and second year players back there, and their pass D is ranked 32nd in the league (worse then the Bears if you can believe that) which means it's definitely going to be Peyton time tomorrow. It all starts with their pass rush, which has been pretty much nonexistent this year after the loss of Mr. Lights Out himself. With DE Castillo out tomorrow, I just don't see the Chargers applying any kind of pressure at all on Manning, so it will be a long day for them. The Chargers are also the worst team at defending TE's, which falls perfectly for the Manning and Clark connection. The Colts on the other hand, are headed in the right direction right now, and no one wants to face them now. They haven't lost in the month of November the past couple of years, so look out Chargers fans. It is a must win for the Charges, but numbers just don't lie here. Manning vs 32nd ranked pass Defense = Colts all day.

Bills at Chiefs (Chiefs +3) - WTF has happened to the Bills. They started out as one of the hottest and most surprising teams in the league, but in the last few weeks they have tail spun out of control, losing 4 games in a row. Now they can't even win games at home(where they were $$$) vs struggling teams, and I've definitely lost faith in them. QB Trend Edwards has become the Bills Wrex Grossman, a turnover machine. This week it doesn't get any easier for him, as he plays an opportunistic Chiefs defense, who is doing great in the takeaway dept. Also, WR Josh Reed is still hurt, and so is their best defensive player, Aaron Schobel. They are also missing their Safeties, which means bad news for the Bills trying to defend HOF TE T-GO. The Chiefs have played every single team tough this year, and have never given up. They have also won me a lot of money this year, so I will ride them again this week, even though they kind of let me down last weekend. Tyler Thigpen should be able to do well vs this listless Bills defense, and I just don't think these Bills can get over their heart breaking loss on Monday Night. I'll definitely take the pts in this one, as the Chiefs always play well at home, and the home team has won the last 10 out of 11 games in this matchup.

Texans at Browns (Browns -3) - The Texans have been one of the most disappointing teams in the league to me. With so much potential talent on both ends of the ball, they just haven't won games, plain and simple. Their D can't stop the run, and Sage R just turns the ball over too freaking much for me to take them this week on the road. They will be going into a hostile territory and bad weather, which makes me give the edge to the Browns. I know the Browns are struggling this year, but they have been playing better football lately. I don't know if it's the Brady Quinn factor, but his swagger definitely has them playing better football since he took over at QB. He has showed good poise, and it carries over onto his teammates. Winslow is playing this weekend too, after being questionable for game day. I just think that the Browns will pound the ball on the ground in this game at home and in the bad weather, and the Texans will have a few key turnovers which will be the difference in this football game. With the Browns still mathematically alive to make the playoffs, this game is definitely a must win for them. Let's see if Brady Quinn can lead them to a victory in this one.

Skins at Shawks (Skins -3) - I'm loving the Skins in this spot this weekend. Let's face it, when you are in the NFC East, every game is pretty much a must win for you unless you are the Giants. If the Skins want to keep up in the playoff hunt, they are going to have to shake off their loss to the Cowboys and bounce back with a huge victory. Who better to face then the struggling Shawks for that win. The Skins are tough, and their lines are going to dominate this game. Both offensive and defensive. They will attack the Shawks with a balanced offense, and I think that their running game will dominate in this one. The Skins will also have Portis playing, and look for him to also have a great bounce back game in this one. In addition to the running game though, look for nice quick passes to Moss and others to gain large chunks of yards that way too. Also, I know Hassleback is back, but the Hawks are honestly dead. I've had a chance to watch them play a few times this year, and this team is nowhere near the past SHawks teams that we are all used to seeing. Even their great home field seems depressed at this year's squad. The Hawks are dead and have nothing to play for, but unlike teams like the Niners and Chiefs, they don't even look like they care or want to play football, while the Skins really really need a W in this one. I will give the pts in this waxing to be.

Gluck everyone!!!

Subscribe Now

LIGHTS OUT - SHAWNE MERRIMAN SONG

I was watching Pro Football Weekly tonight with Jay Glazer, Eddie George and Shawne Merriman, when I heard this rap called "Lights Out" made by Tony Corleone. The song was made for Mr. Lights Out himself, and as soon as I heard it, I knew I had to post it for my buddy IP, who is a huge Chargers twang. I've never heard or seen this song/video before, so sorry if it's OLD NEWS. Check it out...

Subscribe Now

GARRETT WOLFE'S CRIB

Check out Bears RB/ Special Teamer Garrett Wolfe's crib...

Thanks to Mouthpiece sports for the video.
Subscribe Now

THE DOCK-TOR'S ORDER - WEEK 12

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; (SS)

3. Panthers (8-2) - The Panthers took care of business last week vs the lowly Lions, but this weekend comes their first real test in a while. They play the surprising Falcons on the road, and if they can win this game, they should definitely lock up their division. The Panthers have been great at home but streaky on the road, so it will be interesting to see which Panthers team shows up in this game. (VC)

4. Steelers (7-3) - Solid defensive victory to put them back on track. We (as well as the Steelers) get an early treat watching them play the Bengals Thursday night. The long rest thereafter should have them primed and ready to go against New England. (CK)

5. Jets (7-3) - Brett Favre is smoking and if the team can overcome 400 yard, 3 touchdown performances from other quarterbacks, the Jets may have a little bit of the "it" factor that you need to advance in the postseason. The Pats game was an instant classic and if the Jets get this kind of balance on offense as we move along in December, this is going to be a scary team. (RK)

6. Buccaneers (7-3) - Tampa Bay won a huge game last weekend vs the Vikings at home. Their defense bailed them out like usual, and they won in typical Bucs fashion. This week they play the hapless Lions on the road, but next week they have a huge divisional showdown vs the Saints. They better not look past the winless Lions this weekend though, otherwise they might become the laughing stock of the league. (VC)

7. Cardinals (7-3) - The numbers are sickening, and it makes you double take making sure there's no typos. They are hot right now, and add another hard earned victory after beating Seattle last wknd. There will be fireworks as the high octane Cardinal O invites the stingy hard-nosed NYG D. THis game will show us how "real" the Cards are.(CK)

8. Colts (6-4) - Peyton Manning had a "Manning" game but as I keep harping on since early season, this run defense will not allow this team to do a lot of damage should they make the playoffs. It was nice to see Marvin Harrison get back in the mix after such a shaky season so far. (RK)

9. Patriots (6-4): They keep being competitive despite injury after injury. Just shows you how good their front office really is. William Clay Ford Sr. (Owner of the Detroit Lions) needs to drive a truckload full of cash to Boston and dump it on Scott Pioli's front yard. (SS)

10. Redskins (6-4): Their hot start may have been a facade. I am not at all impressed with Jason Campbell's play. They will be lucky to make the playoffs with a tough schedule coming up. (SS)

11. Cowboys (6-4) - The Boys are back! Getting Romo back is huge for this Boys squad, that won a big division game last weekend vs the Skins. Romo's swagger and confidence spills over to everyone on this squad, and I don't think anyone wants to see this team in the playoffs. I definitely think they are going to make a nice run in these last 6 games, so watch out. (VC)

12. Dolphins (6-4) - Miami is one of the most surprising teams in the NFL this year. They have pulled out the Wildcat, and some great wins in their first 10 games. This weekend they get a pissed off Pats team, which might be bad news. But, if they can pull out a W in this game, I really think they have a good chance at making the playoffs. Let's see how it pans out. (VC)

13. Ravens (6-4) - A crushing and embarrassing defeat to NYG may have been enough to de-rail this team for the rest of the season. They have a big opportunity to bounce back at home vs Philly this wknd, but if Jacobs did that last week, what will Westbrook do this week? (CK)

14. Falcons (6-4) - A hard one to swallow last wknd losing against Denver, esp w/ a tough game this week vs division rival Carolina. This is crunch time for the Falcons, the kid has a huge opportunity to become the face and leader of this franchise right now. (CK)

15. Broncos (6-4) - Denver picked up a good win against a good opponent but what has happened to Jay Cutler? This guy was on pace for like 50 touchdowns and you would think with a lack of running game he would keep gunning. Though they play in a week division, this team is not far enough in front of the Chargers to take things easy yet. I don't see the winner of this division getting very far in the playoffs.(RK)

16. Packers (5-5) - Well that was fun!! The Pack out-muscled the Bears on both sides of the ball and it looks like Ryan Grant is starting to hit his stride. He has had three very good games against three very good rushing defenses in the past three weeks. I don't think the Bears are a 34 point worse of a team, but this display showed what the Packers are capable of when all cylinders are clicking. Remember, this team was 13-3 last year and though Brett is gone, AR is playing well. (RK)

17. Eagles (5-4-1): A veteran like Donovan McNabb cannot have games like he did Sunday against the Bengals. Not acceptable, especially when his team's playoffs hopes are hanging by a thread. Finally, Donovan needs to take time to study the NFL rules instead of spending his free time memorizing the ingredients to every Campbell's soup brand. (SS)

18. Saints (5-5): A tough 3-game home stretch coming up (Packers, Bucs, and Falcons). They need to win all 3 to even have a chance at the playoffs. I don't see it happening. Do you? (SS)

19. Bears (5-5) - The Bears got their as#ses whooped last weekend, plain and simple. I was at the game, and it was one of the most disappointing experiences of my life. If they don't turn this ship around soon, heads need to roll. But the crazy thing is, at 5-5 and with 6 games left, somehow this team still has a chance to win the division and make the playoffs. They get a Ram teams this weekend that looks dead, so maybe they can get some of their confidence back with a W on Sunday.

20. Vikings (5-5) - The Vikings missed a huge chance last weekend vs the Bucs to take over first place in the NFC North. They now have to travel to play another physical team in the Jags this weekend. If they want to keep their playoff hopes alive, they need a big road W Sunday. I still don't understand why they don't give APETE the ball even more. Look for him to try to put them on his back for the remainder of the season.

21. Bills (5-5) - What a nosedive into the ground this team took. After Trent Edwards was a fringe MVP candidate early in the season, his play has fallen off as bad as anyone in the league. His confidence is clearly shook and was easily surmised by him dumping the ball off to M. Lynch for 10 on his 16 completions in the Cleveland game. There is an outside chance the Bills can turn it around in time, but I don't see the team they put on the field capable of such a shift in play right now. I won't jump on the "wide right" cliches this week. (RK)

22. Chargers (4-6). I cannot seem to pinpoint where this team went wrong this season. Is it an aging LT? Is it the defense? Is it Norv being Norv? They were a lot of people's pre season Super Bowl pick even coming into the season. As bad as they have played, they still have a slim chance at making the playoffs. They get the Vikings at home this weekend. Being a Bears fan, I am praying they can beat the Vikes! Come on you JAGS!!! (VC)

24. Browns (4-6) - Ok so BQ squeezed a victory out for them.. it's something to build upon. A good matchup against Houston at home for him to get more practice, but can we already say they made the right choice and he is looking much better than D.A?(CK)

25. Texans (3-7) - This team is just not playing well. If they can't outscore the opponent, there is pretty much no chance for a W. The Texans should make sure Matt Schaub is not rushed back early for no reason. He clearly looked like a franchise QB before getting hurt and this is the time to let Rosenfels showcase himself for possible trade bait. (RK)

26. 49ers (3-7) - Samurai Mike has this Niners team playing great now. They waxed the Rams last weekend, and have been playing good football the last couple of weekends. Unfortunately for them, they run into a Cowboys team who has everyone healthy again. (VC)

27. Seahawks (2-8) - Matt Hasselbeck had a less than stellar return to the field but this is a lost season anyways. It will be interesting to see if Holmgren is enticed by the 49ers job down the road and stays in this division. That's about all that is exciting outside of the Arizona Cardinals in the NFC West. Oh, I have Frank Gore on my fantasy team so I guess that may top the excitement list. (RK)

28. Rams (2-8) - If this team refuses to so blatantly NOT try on Sundays, then I figure I am going to do the same from now on. The Rams suck. The Rams and Lions should play in a "Crap Bowl" so we can point and laugh some more. (RK)

29. Chiefs (1-9) - The Chiefs keep hanging around in every game, but just can't come out with the W. Like I've said time after time, at least they haven't quit playing this year, like some other teams. Can they come up with an upset vs the visiting Bills this weekend? I doubt it, but I know they will try hard. (VC)

30. Bengals (1-8-1) - What a season for the Bengals. Snap their losing streak with a win, and follow it with a tie. I'm sorry my furry friends, get used to losing as the Bengals play the Steelers in the national spotlight tomorrow night. In this week's episode, Marinelli challenged Detroit News' Reporter Rob Parker to go out on the street and look for players for him. As reported by the Trib, the numbers to the deal are as follows...

Dempster will receive a $4 million signing bonus, $8 million in 2009, $12.5 million in 2010 and $13.5 million in 2011, with a player option of $14 million for 2012.

Word on the street is that Dempster was going to get offered more by either Toronto, NYM, NYY, ATL, or LA, but Dempster chose to give the Cubs a home town discount, and sign early.

I personally think we slightly overpaid for Dempster, and I wanted to see more than one solid year before giving him such a long term deal. I also would rather have Peavy over Dempster, but, Dempster is one of the leaders of our ballclub, and he put up a great season last year, so maybe he deserves it. Pitchers are generally paid big money too, and his deal is pretty close to other pitchers who put up similar numbers. Hopefully in these upcoming seasons, Dempster can be the solid, consistent pitcher he was last season. And hopefully he can solidify the clubhouse with his leadership as well. Both sides definitely seemed happy that the deal is done, and that Dempster is a Cub once again, so all is well right now in Cubland.

Let's see how this signing affects the Peavy situation, but everything I am hearing now, is not good in regards to Peavy. It looks like the Cubs are instead going to look towards getting a lead off hitter in Chone Figgins or Brian Roberts. I'll keep you guys posted with that and any other Cubs news. Please bear with me early on, as I am still tinkering with the format. The rankings are unbiased and take into account several aspects including overall record, weekly record, injuries and strength of victories. Enjoy and good luck to your respective teams!

-RP

1. Los Angeles Lakers (7-1) – Everyone loses at some point, so can’t really harp on the Detroit game. What a difference Bynum has made? Kobe playing just 35 minutes a night only bodes well for the postseason. That bench is murder with Farmar, the Machine, Ariza and Odom.

2. Boston Celtics (9-2) – The champs have maintained that hunger which was everyone’s main concern. Pierce came out the gates scorching, but Rondo is going to be the key just as was the case last season. They were hoping for Tony Allen to fill the void left by Posey, but he has disappeared after a couple of nice games.

3. Cleveland Cavaliers (8-2) – Hottest team in the league, but the Man is still doing too much. Mo Williams has been picking it up of late as well. Three-point shooting has been a cause for concern early, but look for Boobie to heat up a bit.

4. Phoenix Suns (8-3) – They didn’t really do anything special in the past week (2 wins against broke teams and a tired Detroit) to deserve such a high spot. The Diesel earned them this spot for throwing Yao and T-Mac, then almost killing Stuckey. I’m just scared now.

5. Detroit Pistons (7-3) – The A.I. era will have its ups and downs in the 313. Either way, 3-1, and handing the Lakers their first loss is a commendable west coast swing.

6. Orlando Magic (7-3) – I still don’t think they are in the East’s upper echelon, but a 3-0 road trip deserves some love. Superman is in the early MVP conversation throwing up 23, 14 and 4 swats a night.

7. Utah Jazz (6-4) – Started out hot, but a 1-4 east coast trip doesn’t look too good. Once Williams, Memo and AK-47 are back and healthy, I expect them to be the second best team in their conference, so the penalty won’t be too steep right now.

8. Atlanta Hawks (6-3) – Lets hope their hot start wasn’t a fluke. Maybe the two Nets losses were a hangover from that Boston game. Johnson has been dynamite and this is a nice young team everyone will be rooting for come playoff time.

9. Houston Rockets (6-4) – Finished a tough week with two nice wins against the Suns and Hornets. Look for this team to make a run when Battier makes his return. It’ll be interesting to see how they gel and if they are going to be in the mix down the stretch.

10. Portland Trailblazers (6-4) – Any time you have a 3-1 road trip that’s a success. Roy is the real deal. It’s also nice to see the big man back in action and putting up some nice numbers in limited run.

11. New Orleans Hornets (5-4)
12. Denver Nuggets (6-4)
13. Toronto Raptors (5-4)
14. San Antonio Spurs (4-5)
15. New York Knickerbockers (6-4)
16. Miami Heat (5-5)
17. Philadelphia 76ers (5-5)
18. Chicago Bulls (5-5)
19. Golden State Warriors (4-6)
20. Milwaukee Bucks (5-6)
21. Indiana Pacers (4-5)
22. New Jersey Nets (4-5)
23. Sacramento Kings (4-7)
24. Charlotte Bobcats (3-6)
25. Dallas Mavericks (3-7)
26. Memphis Grizzlies (3-7)
27. Washington Wizards (1-6)
28. Minnesota Timberwolves (1-8)
29. Los Angeles Clippers (1-8)
30. Oklahoma City (1-9)

NBA Player of the Week:

LeBron James – Three wins to go with 33.7 points, 6 boards, 8 dimes and 2.7 steals per game. These numbers come off a week where he averaged 34.5, 9.8 and 5.3 in four wins. I think it is safe to say he has stated his case for Player of the Month.

Subscribe Now

STONE COLD LEAD PIPE DOCKS

I'm headed to Green Bay for the big Bears Packers game this weekend, so unfortunately this post is going to be a little shorter than normal. That being said, last weekend was definitely a good weekend for our post and readers, so hopefully we can continue our little hot streak.

Real quick note on the picture change... We love Minka here at DSS, and that is why we gave her half of the Locks Season. But now it's time for our other favorite crush,Emmanuelle Chriqui to get some face time, so enjoy. They are in a tight division race and need to win some games. Desperation and a solid Philip Rivers gets the job done for San Diego as the Steelers will not be able to score with the Chargers. Chargers 31-17

– Tony Romo is baaaccccckkkkkkkk!!!!!!!! The Cowboys have been off beat the past few weeks due to QB 1's injury. Look for them to play with that swag this week and take care of business in Washington. No Portis means Campbell is going to have to carry the team, but it wont be enough this week. Cowboys 24-17

color: rgb(204, 102, 0);">(Browns +5) – The Bills after a fast start have fallen into a rut with in the division. They are looking for a pick up this week against a disappointing Browns team. I don't think it will happen though. Brady Quinn looked good in his first start and I see it continuing. Look for the Browns to go into Buffalo and steal one away from the scuffling Bills. Browns 27-23

– THE UNDEFEATED STREAK ENDS HERE!!!!!!!!! The Jags are a stout defense but have underachieved overall. Look for them to take away the run and make Collins beat them. Collins has been solid but the Jaguars defense should be able to challenge the Titans pass offense. David Gerrard and company will have a balanced attack and will control the clock. Jags by a touchdown 21-14

With that beings said I think seven points is too high for a explosive Rams offense with or without Stephen Jackson. Look for the Rams to keep this one close, if not win the game. Rams 23-17

(Colts -8) - The Colts proved to me last weekend that they still had heart, and that they aren't giving up on this season that easily. They came through with a huge win at Pitt last weekend, that might have saved their season. This week the Colts face a team they have dominated in the past. The Colts have won 12 of the last 13 games vs the Texans, and that record will definitely improve after this weekend. Manning has always had success vs the Texans in the past. His QB rating vs them is a 118.4 . No, that isn't a typo! I don't see anything stopping him from having another huge game in this one. Tony Ugoh is healthy now, so I don't see Mario Williams having his way like he did in their last matchup with the Colts. And the last time the Colts played the Texans, they didn't have Bob Sanders. He is back and will be causing havoc as usual, which isn't good news for Sage Rosenfels. I expect DFreen to be a beast in this game too. The Colts definitely are not taking the Texans lightly after their last faceoff in which they needed a lot of help to win. The Colts really need this game to make the playoffs, and I don't see them having a let down in this one. I'll give the pts...

Saints at Chiefs<sp
