STONE COLD LEAD PIPE DOCKS - WEEK 3
Suman and I bounced back last week getting back into the win columns. Now we are back to do it again this Sunday! We have some great division matchups this week, so there should definitely be some tough games to pick from, but we'll come out on top! If you think you can beat us, check out the end of this post for the rules of our contest. We are giving away a prize too, so be sure to check it out!
Let's do this!
Suman's Pix:
Last Week 3-2
YTD 4-5-1
Tennessee Titans -7
It's hard to find a team that has had worse luck injury-wise than the Denver Broncos. They won't have Champ Bailey today, and Knowshon Moreno is still hampered by a hamstring injury. Brandon Lloyd is just coming back from injury. And it seems like they have a whole slew of other injuries already like Ty Warren being gone. Now they have to travel for their first road game of the year to what I consider a sleeping giant in the Tennessee Titans. Chris Johnson has yet to have a good game coming off that holdout so that is something to look for. Kenny Britt is on hte verge of superstardom. And ol' reliable Matt Hasslebeck has held it down at QB. I think that Titans defense comes up big here, and gives Kyle Orton and the injury-riddled Broncos problems.
Carolina Panthers -3
I'm done betting against Cam Newton. I'll take him this week as the Panthers host Jacksonville and Blaine Gabbert. Blaine Gabbert? Yes. Blaine Gabbert. Look he may be good eventually, but I don't remember him doing jack shit in college. I doubt he'll go up against the Panthers and do anything. The Jaguars receivers are kinda weak. So its gonna be a loaded box all day for MJD. Meanwhile, Cam Newton is playing on rookie mode right now. 400 yards for two straight weeks??? I don't think he'll need much this week. And I see the Panthers finally getting that ground game going. Aaron Kampman is out for Jacksonville, and I think it'll be a long day for them. Panthers big.
Chicago Bears +4
Classic let down game for the Bears last week after a big week 1 win. This week I think they come back fired up in the NFC chip rematch. Mike Martz has to figure something out to keep Jay Cutler upright and I think he'll be able to do it this week. Why? Because Jay Cutler cries more than any football player alive and he asked him to. JK. Not really. The dirty little secret of the Packers 2-0 start is that the Saints and Panthers both threw the ball all over the field at will. The Bears always play the Pack tough, and I think put together a strong gameplan featuring a lot more quick throws. The middle of the field has been wide open against the Packers D and I think the Bears will exploit it with about 2930209 throws to Matt Forte. The Bears will also be feeding off of the emotion that Brian Urlacher will be playing with, and I think they win this outright at home.
Oakland Raiders +3.5
The Raiders kind of got the shaft from the NFL scheduling gods: opening night MNF on the road at Denver, then a short week before they travel across the friggin' country to play Buffalo at 1pm. They had that Bills game too, but Ryan Fitzpatrick put on a show as the Raiders started showing signs of fatigue in the second half. But don't kid yourself this team is legit. Their front 7 is as good as any in football. On the other hand, the Jets won't have the best center in the NFL Nick Mangold in this one. That's going to be huge, and I think it'll lead to Mark Sanchez struggling here. I think the casual fan will get to see how much a center truly means to an offense. The Jets defense however is geared to built a ground and pound team like the Raiders. They have given up the fewest points in the league thus far, and I think that will continue. But I expect a close one. I'll take the points.
San Diego Chargers -14.5
The Chargers looked pretty sloppy last week against the Patriots, but tried to make a game of it. This is more an indictment of the Chiefs than anything. My god how awful. Jamaal Charles gone. Tony Moeaki gone. Matt Cassel shook. I don't know how this team is going to score points going forward. The Dexter McCluster/Thomas Jones combo isn't going to scare anyone at running back so I think the Chiefs will be throwing the ball a lot. The Chargers will be without Antonio Gates, but I don't think it'll matter in this one. Philip Rivers will be given a lot of opportunities after all the 3 and outs by the Chiefs. I think the Chargers dominate this one.

Last Week 3-1-1

Unfortunately don't have time for writeups this week, but these are my picks...
Raiders +3.5
Titans -7
Panthers -3
Ravens -5
Cardinals -3
Good luck playaz!

STONE COLD LEAD PIPE DOCKS - WEEK 2
Suman and I both had dismal showings last week, but we'll get it back this weekend! Remember that slow and steady wins the race with this. Remember we are giving away a $100 gift card to anyone who can beat us over the course of the Football season. The rules for the contest will always be at the end of the post, so please check them out. Everyone please keep posting your picks in our comments section before kick-off, so we can keep track of them. Also a big congrats to SportsBook101 on beating us last week. Now onto this weekend's money makers!
Suman
YTD: 1-3-1
Detroit Lions -8
The Lions destroyed a really good Bucs team last week. The final score doesn't even indicate how much of a mauling it was. Matt Stafford was one fluke pick 6 away from throwing damn near a perfect game. Now the Lions get the suddenly vulnerable Chiefs at home, in what will be the most exciting home opener for the Lions in over a decade. The Chiefs already lost potential breakout candidate Tony Moeaki for the year in the preseason, and last week lost future perenial pro bowler Eric Berry for the year with an ACL injury. The one weakness on this Lions team is their secondary, and the Chiefs simply don't have the weapons to exploit that. The kicking game will be huge here, as the Chiefs do sport some dangerous return men in Dexter McCluster and Javier Arenas, while the Lions did give up a big return last week (non-scoring return but still...). I see the Lions jumping out early at home and never looking back. The Chiefs aren't built to come from behind (that's what she said).
Green Bay Packers -10
Cam Newton was the talk of the NFL in week 1, and rightfully so. But he faces a different beast this week. This Packers team is going to find small motivation techniques every week to keep themselves going, and this week its the fact that everyone is talking about Cam Newton. The kid is going to be special eventually. But not this week. Green Bay has the secondary to prevent Steve Smith from running wild. And Dom Capers is going to pull some wild-blitz-camoflouge-disguise-mr. miyagi shit to confuse the F outta Cam. I promise. Rookie QB's are 3-7 against Dom Capers led defenses, and I don't expect that to change this week. On offense Aaron Rodgers is rolling. Kevin Kolb put up 300+ yards on the Panthers this week, so look for AR to repeat that.
Washington Redskins -4
The Redskins tried pounding the rock last week with Tim Hightower (tied for the league lead in rush attempts last week). Look for them to do the same this week and all year long. More importantly, this Cardinals defense was horrid against the pass last week. Rex Grossman was put up some numbers last week, and I think he can do it again. Although he had a great TD return, Patrick Peterson did struggle against the Panthers WR's in coverage (especially Steve Smith). Santana Moss is still chugging along, and I think the veteran will give Peterson and the Cards secondary problems all day. However, the biggest reason I like this pick is the difference in line play. Levi Brown has struggled at left tackle. The 'Skins have a budding superstar in Brian Orakpo. Its going to be a long day for Kevin Kolb. I like the Redskins big at home.
New York Jets -9
The only way I see the Jags keeping this close is if they can run on the Jets. I don't see MJD busting many runs against that huge Jets d-line. I don't see a let down from the Jets at home after their emotional come from behind lucky victory last week. I see them running hog wild, and blitzing the crap out of Luke McCown. McCown did have one fumble last week, and I think he'll struggle in this spot on the road. The Jets are a different team when they can jump out to a lead, than when they have to rely on the Sanchize to bring them back. I think they jump out early in this one, and things get out of hand for the Jaguars on the road.
Cincinnati Bengals +4
Doesn't matter who is quarterbacking for the Broncos. Their run defense was atrocious last year, and it looked just as bad last week against the Raiders. Enter the criminal, Cedric Benson. He is going to gash this Broncos defense. Although it is hard to define who the Bengals are this year since there only game was against the worst team in the league, the Browns, they do seem to have a tough defense and strong line play on both sides of the ball. That should be enough to keep this one close against a Broncos team that looked lost week 1. Another bad game from Kyle Orton, and expect all the idiots to start chanting for Tim Tebow again. Cincy has 2 good cornerbacks in Clements and Leon Hall, and I don't see the Broncos suddenly developing a running game (38 yards last week).
Docksquad's Pix:
YTD: 1-2-2
Raiders +4(hook)
I know people don't like taking West Coast teams traveling East playing at noon, but I'm making the exception in this one. The Raiders Dline and Olines looked great on Monday, and I think they will control the line of scrimmage in this one. The Bills did look great in their first game, but they played a buster Chiefs squad. No one pressured their QB all game long. That won't be the case in this game, the Raiders will be all over Fitz. The Raiders should be able to run the ball and Run DMC and Bush looked great on MNF. The Bills are also missing McGee so that is a big loss for them. Look for them to dominate the time of possession and their D should keep them in this game. I like the Bills this year, but I think the Bills are a little over valued in this game. And since I see the game being close all the way through, I will take the points for sure.
Skins -3(hook)
Did you see what Cam did to this Cards secondary last week? They looked terrible and slow. Look for my boy Sexy Rexy(nh) to test them early and often and light them up. The Skins will double Fitz and make others beat them, like the Panthers did last week. They also have a pretty formidable run defense, which should keep Beanie in check as well. In the end, Hightower will then take over in the second half and put this game away. At least that is how I see this game ending up. Skins win by a touchdown, at least...
Cowboys -3
This game smells like a trap, but I can't stay away. If Romo and the Boys can't beat the Niners, put a fork in them. Yes this is a must win for them in Week 2, at least that's how I see it. I see Romo and co. bouncing back, in a big way. I know one week of Football isn't the end all be all, but I know what I saw last weekend. The Cowboys lost, but overall they dominated their game vs the Jets, as big dogs. The Niners on the other hand, struggled vs one of the worst teams in the NFL, and were bailed out by Teddy G on Special Teams. If Romo and that offense made it rain vs the Jets, imagine what they will do vs a banged up Niners Secondary. Even with Dez hurting, they will light up the scoreboard in this one. On the flip side, the Niners OLine is terrible. Look for Ware and the Boys D to be in the backfield all game long. That will neutralize Gore, and we all know Alex Smith is not going to win this game on his own. The Cowboys get back on the right track here in this one and cover.
Bengals +4
The Bengals really showed me something last week in their Road win vs the Browns. Granted the Browns are not a powerhouse, but they went on the road and won a game in which they were big dogs. Their offense will be run heavy with a banged up rookie QB, but that is perfect vs this Broncos team. They are banged up and terrible at stopping the run. They gave up 191 yards last week, and look for something similar this week. Their D should also be able to contain this weak offense that the Broncos have. Two of their biggest weapons are probably out in Moreno and Lloyd. I know KO really has not gotten a fair shake there in Denver, but it is what it is. With fans booing his every play and chanting TEEEEEEBOW on every play starting in the first quarter, the guy's confidence has to be shaken. I just don't see how with all this going on and with their injuries, they will be able to win this game by more than 4 pts. I don't even think they win the game, but I'll take the points in this one.
Texans -3
I know the Texans beat a Manningless Colts team last weekend, but they did what they were supposed to do. That always has not been the case with this Texans team, that usually loses games they are supposed to win. I think this is a confident team and I think they come into week 2 and pick up from where they left off last weekend. Look for a bigger game from Schaub and AJ in this one. There is a nasty mismatch because the Fins have no one close talent wise to stop AJ. I think the Texans take advantage of this mismatch and start out gunning. This will cause them to build a big lead. They also get Foster back this weekend, and him and Tate will be more than enough to finish the game on the ground then. The Fins did show some life last weekend, but I do not trust Henne and Bush to play well on an every week basis. They also have no home field advantage whatsoever, so look for the Texans to come into town and leave with a W and cover!
Good luck playaz!

2011 STONE COLD LEAD PIPE DOCKS - WEEK 1
Welcome back to the 2011 edition of the Stone Cold Lead Pipe Docks of the Week. First off we'd like to wish a happy 47th birthday to our leader Vik. He dominated Suman last year in the picks contest, and will be looking to defend his crown. We will also be offering a prize this year. Check the end of this post for the rules...
Now onto business. Amazing weekend coming up. First off, all the week 1 games are going to start off with such an emotional charge as Sunday happens to be the 10th anniversary of 9/11. There will be tears shed especially in places with added significance like New York where the Jets game against the Cowboys will be in primetime, and in DC where the Redskins take on the Giants at 4:15 pm. If Thursday's intro in Green Bay is any indication of what we'll see this weekend, then get your Kleenex ready.
Big ups to Lance Briggs for his gloves and shoes for 9/11 too!
Sunday also happens to be the final episode of a long standing Docksquad favorite, Entourage. Sloan, you will be missed (pic above). I hope you find work again because "Don't Mess with the Zohan" was awful. We'd hate to never see you again.
Finally, Docksquad Sports would like to tip a little out for all Peyton Manning fantasy owners, and gamblers everywhere. What Bill Polian did to you guys by not disclosing the severity of Peyton's injury was reprehensible, and very Mike Shanahan-running back-by-committee-esque....
Now onto the picks....
SUMAN
Cleveland Browns -6.5
This line opened at -3. Then people saw the Bengals offense, and it moved to where it is now. It'll probably grow even more by gametime. The Browns have a lot to work out on offense, but should have a pretty solid defense to open the season (although they haven't trotted out the entire first team defense yet due to injuries). I see a grudge match here that the Browns eventually grind out with a couple late scores. You can't expect a whole lot from Andy Dalton yet. Cedric Benson was in jail a few weeks ago, and the Bengals will be relying on a really young receiving corps all year. The beginning of the end for Marvin Lewis begins Sunday. I see the Browns winning by at least a touchdown at home.
Indianapolis Colts +8.5
I think the Colts will still be decent with whomever plays QB, but I'm sure the news of how long Peyton Manning will be gone still shocked the players. Enter Kerry Collins. The Texans had this game circled on their calenders long ago, but now they smell blood in the water. Or is it that they see blood in the water? I don't know. Even if Arian Foster is out Sunday, the Texans offense will be a juggernaut this year. The defense should be vastly improved too. Look for JJ Watt as candidate for defensive ROY in Wade Phillips' defense. Kid is a beast, and will be single teamed thanks to superstar Mario Williams. I see the Colts defense giving the Texans a fighting chance, but the Texans pulling away late. They have too much firepower in my opinion to lose this game. But Kerry Collins is a pro, and won't lose this game for the Colts. The Colts are a well-oiled machine, and even though they aren't title contenders without Peyton, they are still a veteran team. They'll definitely try to establish the run with Addai and Donald Brown early. And I think they'll still be in this one late thanks to Gary Brackett and that veteran defense.
Tennessee Titans +2
I'm sorry I just cannot not bet against Luke McCown. Luke McCown is starting a game in the NFL. Again. He showed flashes when he was with the Browns, but in the end he's Luke McCown. I also do not recognize any names on the Jaguars offense. Who are these guys? Why does Jacksonville have a team? How does Jacksonville have an NFL team, and Los Angeles doesn't? I don't care if Chris Johnson just got off his couch (which is basically the case here). They'll give him the rock 25 times, and the Titans will somehow win. Nobody in the entire world besides Chris Johnson fantasy owners will watch this game.
Washington Redskins +3
Here are a list of NY Giants that are either injured for Sunday or even worse for the whole year: Jonathan Goff, Terrel Thomas, Bruce Johnson, Marvin Austin, Clint Sintim, Osi Umenyiora, Prince Amukamara, and potentially Justin Tuck. They also lost Steve Smith and Kevin Boss via free agency, and let go of offensive lineman Shaun O'Hara and Rich Seubert. Not to mention they lost out in the Plaxico Burress sweepstakes. Its hard to question the Giants front office because they have been adept at picking their spots the past few years, but this appears to have been a terrible offseason for them. Meanwhile, I expect the Redskins to be feisty this year. They got a little swagger to them. Addition by subtraction with the loss of Albert Haynesworth. And that defense is going to shock some people. Ryan Kerrigan is the perfect compliment to the pro bowler Brian Orakpo. Not to mention Barry Cofield coming over from the Giants. I think Tim Hightower will bust out this year. It'll be an emotional atmosphere, and I expect the 'Skins to take their home opener outright.
Arizona Cardinals -7
This is one of those games I wish I locked in on weeks ago before Cam Newton was named the starter. He'll be good eventually it looks like, but its so hard to step in from day 1 in our league and be the starter. Carolina is going to pound the rock. They still got the 2-headed monster at RB. But they went out and loaded up with TE's too (Shockey, Ben Hartsock, and Greg Olsen). Look for a lot of 3 TE sets. I don't see the Panthers putting up a lot of points. So I think this game comes down to how well the Panthers defense, especially Chris Gamble, plays against Larry Fitzgerald. I see the avalanche coming, Kevin Kolb having a big game in his debut, and the Cardinals running away with this one in the desert.
Docksquad's Pix:
Browns -6 (hook)
I'm betting against all rookie Qbs this week. I also think the Browns looked solid at the end of last year and they will continue that momentum into this year. Also the Bengals run defense is terrible, so look for Hillis to have a huge day here on the ground. I also don't see how the Bengals are going to put up points in this one. Bumson is not going to come right out of jail and run all over the Browns, and Dalton is not going to come right into the League and put on a show. This will be a low scoring game, but Hillis and co. will get the job done.
Rams +4
Everyone is all over the Dream Team and the low spread in this one. I'm going the other way and taking the Rams. The Eagles have a ton of new players and I think it is going to take them some time to jell, especially on the defensive end. They will put up points, but there are a lot of holes on this defense. Look for SJAX to have a huge game. The Rams also have a solid Coach who knows Coach Reid and their system. And everyone is on the Eagles...that's all I needed to know.
Titans +2
Can't believe they cut Gerrard when they did. I see no way that MCCLOWN, who has looked terrible in preseason, gets this offense going. The Jags also have one of the worst pass rushes in the NFL. Hass will be able to sit back there all day. That is what is going to allow Hass to get the job done today. Look for huge games from CJ and Britt today and the Titans will win this game straight up.
Cardinals -7
I love Cam but there is no way he comes into week 1 and puts on a show. He will be solid by the end of the year, but not now. They will rely on their running game heavily, but their defense is so terrible, that I see them getting smoked late. Look for Beanie Wells and Fitz to have monster games in this one. I'm not high on the Cards this year, but I see them winning this one by double digits.
Pats -7
Brady and the Hoody monster are pissed from how their season ended last year, and they are going to shred up this Dolphins defense. I also think Tom Brady is going to have a monster year, another MVP type season. He has the weapons on offense, but can their defense hold? I don't think their defense will be tested that much this week though. I'm not sold on Reggie Bush being an everydown back and I'm definitely not a Henne believer. Can the Fins keep up? I don't think so...I know giving up 7 on the road is a lot, but in Brady and the Hoody monster I trust.

2011 NFL PREVIEW by Docksquad and Suman V
NFC Preview & Predictions - by Docksquad
NFC EAST
TEAM: Philly Eagles
PREDICTED RECORD: 11-5
KEY PLAYERS:: 1. Vick - no brainer there, if he can stay healthy, they will always have a shot. With a new and shoddy oline, can he survive the season? 2. Maclin - He is the most complete WR on this team, and he missed camp and lost weight. Will he comeback as the same player he was last year? 3. Nnamdi A. regarded as the best corner in the League, will he live up to that billing? He was on a weak team with a lot of holes, so teams just threw away from him. Now he is in a much tougher division and in a conference with some Qbs who won't be afraid to throw at him. He'll also be in a much brighter spotlight, will he be able to handle it in Philly?
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Jason Babin
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: These team has many. Can't go wrong with Vick, Shady, Maclin, or DJAX. Feet to the fire, got to go with VICK!
TOUGHEST PART OF SCHEDULE: Overall seems like a soft schedule, but their last four games will be their toughest stretch. They go on the road to Miami and Dallas, and play the Jets and Skins at home.
MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: Star Wars 2: The Empire Strikes Back - The Eagles are like the Heat this year, going out and getting absolutely everyone out there and calling themselves the Dream Team. So I'm likening them to the Evil Empire, and I personally hope they fail!
TEAM: Dallas Cowboys
PREDICTED RECORD: 10-6
KEY PLAYERS: 1. Tony Romo - He has a ton of weapons this year, but he has to stay healthy. If he does, look for them to make a serious run for this division. 2. Felix Jones - has looked great so far in this offense, but can he carry a full season's load? 3. DeMarcus Ware - We know this offense can put up points, but can this defense hold down the Eagles and other high flying offenses they face this year?
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Dez Bryant
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: I'm going to go with Tony Romo over Felix Jones. I think Romo has a monster year this year and if you get 6pts a TD, grab Romo a little later and enjoy!
TOUGHEST PART OF SCHEDULE: weeks 4-7 they face Detroit and St. Louis at home, and go on the road to New Englad and Philly. That's definitely a rough four game stretch.
MOVIE PREQUE/SEQUEL COMPARISON: Rise of the Planet of the Apes...When I first saw the preview for this movie, I thought it was going to suck. Then I actually went to go see it with my wife, and it turned out to be a good one. By the end, I was actually cheering for the Apes! Don't know why, but that kind of makes sense to me here. I originally thought the Cowboys would blow this year, but now that I think about it, I think they will have a big year and will be rooting for them as well!
TEAM: NY GIANTS
PREDICTED RECORD: 7-9
KEY PLAYERS: 1. Eli Manning - I've never been a big Eli guy, and I truly do believe the Eli we saw last year, is what we will see this year. Can he keep the turnovers down? 2. Hakeem Nicks - This dude put up some huge numbers last year. Now that the cats out of the bag, can he do it again? Or was he just a one year wonder? 3. Justin Tuck - This defense has been devastated with injuries, and now Tuck might start the season out as well. The Giants need him healthy and need him to have a huge season and to pick up the defense.
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Jason Pierre-Paul
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: For this team I have to go with Hakeem Nicks. I think that the Giants will have to throw a lot to come back when they get down early in games this year. And I think Nicks is gifted enough to still have a big season this year, even if he will be double teamed.
TOUGHEST PART OF SCHEDULE: Eagles, Saints, Pack, Cowboys in a four game stretch. They might be lucky to win one of those!
MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: Oceans 12 - A lot of big names on this roster on O and D, but this team will disappoint this year like 12 did.
TEAM: Washington Redskins
PREDICTED RECORD: 6-10
KEY PLAYERS: 1. Sexy Rexy! Yes he's back! If he can air it out and stay good Rex, the Skins definitely have a shot to win some games. Only problem for him is, who does he have to throw to? 2. Tim Hightower - Perfect fit for this offensive system, I think he has a big year on the ground. 3. Chris Cooley - Will he be the Cooley of old, or is he OLD NEWS now? GUESS WE'LL SEE!
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Tim Hightower
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: Tim Hightower - as you can see I think he is going to have a big year...
TOUGHEST PART OF SCHEDULE: @Dallas, St. Louis, and vs Philly. Probably 0-3 right there in that stretch.
MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: I STILL Know What You Did Last Summer! You knew it was going to stuck but you still watched for JLH and comedic purposes. I will do the same with the Skins and Rexy!
NFC WEST
TEAM: St. Louis Rams
PREDICTED RECORD: 10-6
KEY PLAYERS: 1. Bradford for sure. Looked solid last year, and we are all hearing great things about him this year. With McDaniels calling the shots, he should be able to put up some big numbers and wins this year. 2 . Can SJAX stay healthy? Is he going to hit a wall soon? Or will he have a big all around year. I'm counting on him to have one more huge season! 3. Danny Amendola is going to have a huge, huge year. A ton of receptions and kick and punt returns, this dude is going to do it all.
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Danny Amendola
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: SJAX - big year coming
TOUGHEST PART OF SCHEDULE: @GB,Dallas, ZONA, and Saints at home...ouch
MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: Batman Begins - The saga begins...
TEAM: Arizona Cardinals
PREDICTED RECORD: 8-8
KEY PLAYERS: 1. Kolb...I've only seen him play 5 times and I have never been impressed with him. I honestly do not think he is going to do well, which is why I have the Cards winning only 8 games. And that's only because the division stinks! 2. FITZ - No matter who his QB is, this dude always puts on a show. Check his stats from last year with the garbage QBs you had, and you can't hate on this dude's talent. 3. Can Beanie Wells stay healthy?
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Beanie Wells
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: Fitz, he will finish the year as a top 3 fantasy WR
TOUGHEST PART OF SCHEDULE: Pitt, BMore, St. Louis, Philly - 0-4 right there!
MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: Batman and Robin - Fitz and Beanie and then a bunch of comedic clowns like in this movie.
TEAM: SF Niners
PREDICTED RECORD: 6-10
KEY PLAYERS: 1. Frank Gore - now that he got paid will he still be motivated? Can he stay healthy? 2. Willis - Can this dude carry the entire defense on his shoulders? 3. Alex Smith - hard to believe this guy has been this team's QB for what now, 7 years? Make or break chance for him, let's see what he can do. fail probably!
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Kendell Hunter - too much talent to be held down
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: Alex Smith! not...Frank Gore, just make sure you handcuff him with Hunter
TOUGHEST PART OF THE SCHEDULE: Philly, TB, Detroit, Cleveland - They won't even be able to beat these squads, sad foo...
MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: Friday the 13th - Part 7! Jason aka Alex Smith is backkkkk
TEAM: Seattle Seahawks
PREDICTED RECORD: 5-11
KEY PLAYERS: 1. Sidney Rice - Bet this guy is thinking to himself, TJAX as my QB again? 2. Lynch - Will he be the Tecmo Bowl run Lynch we saw in the playoff game vs the Saints, or will he be the Lynch that is either always hurt or runs for 2 yards on every carry? 3. Zach miller - Was a beast in Oakland, can he do the same this year with TJAX as his QB?
BREAKOUT PLAYER: ughhh Sidney Rice?
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: read above...
TOUGHEST PART OF THE SCHEDULE: Dallas, Balt, St. Louis, Wash - can they get 1 win there? Doubt it
MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: The Next Karate Kid - No one watched Hillary Swank as the KK, and no one will watch this squad play cause of TJAX!
NFC SOUTH
TEAM: New Orleans Saints
PREDICTED RECORD: 11-5
KEY PLAYERS: 1. Drew Brees son. Foo is gonna put up another huge year! And this is the first year since he joined the Saints that I don't have him on any of my Fantasy Squads...depressing foo! 2. Mark Ingram - Coach P and the Saints are raving about this kid. Have the Saints finally found their workhorse? 3. Colston - We know this guy is extremely talented, but can he stay healthy? If he does, watch out!
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Lance Moore - I think he is going to lead the Saints in receptions this year.
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: Drew Brees of course, but if he is gone, check out Sproles in a PPR league. Sproles >>> Bush, especially on this turf, and with this QB. You can scoop him in the late rounds.
TOUGHEST PART OF THE SCHEDULE: Their first three games they play GB, Chicago, Houston. Those will be tough games for this team, especially because they picked up some new pieces this year.
MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: TRANSFORMERS: Revenge of the Fallen. Brees is going to clap back hard this year after getting upset in the playoffs last year by the Seahawks!
TEAM: Atl Falcons
PREDICTED RECORD: 9-7
KEY PLAYERS: 1. Matty Ice - The kid put up some huge numbers last year, can he do it again this year? This year he has a more wide open offense and more weapons with Jones. 2. Turner the Burner - Can he stay healthy? 3. Julio Jones - We know what Roddy White can do, but can Jones pick up a new offense and put on a show in his rookie year? Not many WR's can just come into the NFL and put on a show. Usually takes them a few years. Counting on the same here with Jones.
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Harry Douglas, Douglas will produce more than Jones this year.
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: Roddy White - Jones on the squad will actually help him.
TOUGHEST PART OF THE SCHEDULE: @Chicago, vs Philly, then @TB, tough start to their schedule with some new players and a new system.
MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: Men in Black 2. Nice cast but won't be able to remake last year's magic...Good but not great.
TEAM: TB BUCS
PREDICTED RECORD: 9-7
KEY PLAYERS: 1. Josh Freeman - The kid looked like a stud last year, will he progress, or digress? same system and he definitely has some weapons. Everyone is talking about Bradford, but don't sleep on Freeman this year. 2. Mike Williams - He had an amazing rookie season, but can he do it again too? Teams do know about him now, but look for him and Freeman to put on a show this year. 3. Blount - Kid's a beast and he made everyone pay for not drafting him. I look for a huge, huge season from Blount this year!
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Arrelious Benn. I know he's coming back from ACL Surgery, but this kid has mad talent.
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: BLOUNT!
TOUGHEST PART OF THE SCHEDULE: Bears, Saints, Texas, Packers
MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: City Slickers 2 - I don't know why, but City Slickers 2 comes to mind when I think about the Bucs. Maybe cause I see Freeman, Williams and Blount as the lead guys in City Slickers. And call me crazy, and maybe this is the alcohol talking, but to me Part 2 was also imo better than 1! I see the Bucs taking a big step forward this year, maybe even beating out the Falcons for a wild card spot in the last week.
TEAM: Carolina Panthers
PREDICTED RECORD: 3-13
KEY PLAYERS: 1. Cam - I'm a fan, but I don't think he is ready for the spotlight just yet. Look for him to struggle big time, especially early on. 2. Deangelo Williams - He got paid big time money, but can he stay healthy? Him and Stewart might have to carry this team literally on their shoulders. 3. Steve Smith - Where is the Steve Smith that beat the Bears in the playoffs all by himself? Seems like he's either always injured or getting into fights with his own teammates whenever I hear about him. I'm a fan but this is a make or break year for Smith, let's see if he can produce.
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Greg Olsen
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: This is a tough choice, but I'm going to go with Deangelo Williams. I think he has a big year.
TOUGHEST PART OF THE SCHEDULE: The Entire schedule, this team will be lucky to win 6 games this year.
MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: SPEED 2 - Remember when Speed 2 came out and you knew it was going to be terrible but still watched because of Sandra Bullock?!? This team is going to be the same way. Terrible season, but we'll still watch to see how Cam does...
NFC NORTH
TEAM: Green Bay Packers
PREDICTED RECORD: 11-5
KEY PLAYERS: 1. AR - Foo put on a show last year and looks even better this year. Now they have a no huddle too...sad foo. 2. CLAY M - The guy literally is insane and has a non stop motor. He's the heart of their defense. 3 . Finley - If he does what he is capable of doing, this offense will be pretty much unstoppable.
BREAK OUT PLAYER: JAMES STARKS - Just runs with more speed and power than Grant, will be the RB1 by mid season.
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: I know most people don't take QB's early in the draft but if AR falls to you, you should snag him. Especially in a 6pt per passing td league. Foo is gonna light it up...sad foo
TOUGHEST PART OF THE SCHEDULE: they have a pretty favorable schedule, but get some tough games when they face the Chargers, Vikings, Bucs and Lions
MOVIE PREQUEL/ SEQUEL COMPARISON: Terminator 2 - T1 was good, but T2 was much better and blew 1 out of the water. I hate these fools with a passion and I hope I am wrong, but they might actually be even better than they were last year.
TEAM: Chicago Bears
PREDICTED RECORD: 9-7
KEY PLAYERS: 1. Look for JC to have a big year. Finally his second year in an offense, and he came back to camp in the best shape of his life. Can't wait! 2. Matt Forte - Will he run like he has with his contract issue going on? Or will he be timid? He's also been severely over used the past few years, will he finally breakdown this year? 3. Peppers - even though his sack total was low last year, the guy was a one man wrecking crew last year. If the Cover 2 is going to work, we will need him to do even more this year.
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Kellen Davis
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: Matt Forte - he came to camp in even better shape and is a perfect fit for this Martz offense. If you are in a PPR league, snatch him up.
TOUGHEST PART OF THE SCHEDULE: Falcons, Saints, Packers - How they start the season will determine the rest of it. If they win 2 out of their first 3 games, they will make the playoffs.
MOVIE PREQUEL/ SEQUEL COMPARISON: X-MEN: THE LAST STAND - This literally is a make or break year for this team and this organization. The defense is getting older, Briggs and Forte are having deal issues, and JC needs to come back strong after the Packers game last year. Who knows if this team, GM, or Coaching staff will even be back next year? I actually think they shutup the haters and have a solid year and sneak into the WC spot...This is their last stand!
TEAM: Detroit Lions
PREDICTED RECORD: 8-8
KEY PLAYERS: 1. Matt Staffy - IF he stays healthy he is going to have a huge year. He's looked great so far. Main thing with him is his turnovers. Can he stay healthy and can he limit his turnovers? Season depends on him. 2. Best - Kid looked amazing last year in spurts, but he also got dinged up a ton and he already had a concussion this pre season. Their depth is weak at RB because of Leshoure's injury. 3. Suh - Is he the best DT in the game? Can he control his temper though and not get penalized and fined every game?
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Staffy
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: Calvin Johnson - foo is gonna put on a show
TOUGHEST PART OF THE SCHEDULE: @Oakland, vs SD, @GB - They have some breaks in between but this might be a tough stretch for them, especially if they are battling for a playoff spot. that last game of the season will be huge. If the packers have already wrapped up the division, they might rest their starters, and the Lions can take advantage.
MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: Pirates of the Caribbean 2 - The Lions are everyone's sexy pick to make the playoffs this year, but I think they will come up a little bit short. Just like Pirates 2. There was a lot of hype for it, but it didn't live up to it's billing. The Lions are 1 year away from making the playoffs.
TEAM: Minn Vikings
PREDICTED RECORD: 6-10
KEY PLAYERS: 1. McNabb - Does he still have it in him? I think he's done and won't even finish the season. 2. Apete - AD is going to be AD. He also wants to get paid, so look for him to have a huge year. 3. Jared Allen - This defense has lost a lot, can he carry this team on his back like Peppers did for the Bears last year?
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Percy Harvin - McNabb needs someone to throw to right?
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: Apete
TOUGHEST PART OF THE SCHEDULE: @Lions, vs Saints, @Skins, vs Bears to end the season
MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: Godfather 3...yes this squad is going to be nothing compared to what it was before...

AFC Championship: Chargers over Pats
NFC Championship: Saints over Packers
Super Bowl: Chargers over Saints
AFC Preview & Predictions - by Suman V
AFC NORTH
TEAM: Pittsburgh Steelers
PREDICTED RECORD: 12-4
KEY PLAYERS: 1. If Mike Wallace can become a true #1 receiver he turns this pretty good offense into a defense's worst nightmare. 2. Troy Polamalu needs to be on the field for this to be a truly feared defense 3. Cam Heyward can make a push for defensive ROY and will inject some youth into this old d-line
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Emmanuel Sanders
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: Rashard Mendenhall
TOUGHEST PART OF SCHEDULE: To end the season they play on MNF at San Francisco, then get a feisty Rams team at home before closing out the season in what could be a meaningful game for playoff implications at Cleveland (don't laugh).

TEAM: Cleveland Browns
PREDICTED RECORD: 10-6
KEY PLAYERS: 1. Brian Robiskie needs to become a consistent option if Colt McCoy wants to make that leap. 2. When Scott Fujita was healthy enough to play last year this team beat the Patriots and Saints. 3. Phil Taylor needs to man the middle of that defensive line because there is no depth at that position
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Evan Moore
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: Peyton Hillis

MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace ....shits about to get real.
TEAM: Baltimore Ravens
PREDICTED RECORD: 9-7
KEY PLAYERS: 1. Jimmy Smith will be starting at CB from day 1. The secondary has been a weakness for this team so it'll be interesting to see how quickly he is able to step up. 2. Ray Lewis - how much more does he have left in the tank? 3. Lee Evans is expected to be option 1 or 2 right away even though he was signed a few weeks ago.
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Tom Zbikowski
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: Ray Rice
TOUGHEST PART OF SCHEDULE: The first 4 games are brutal. Pittsburgh at home, away games at Tennessee and St. Louis before coming back home to face the Jets. It could be over before it starts for this team.

TEAM: NY Jets
PREDICTED RECORD: 11-5
KEY PLAYERS: 1. Will Antonio Cromartie take it personally that the team tried to upgrade to Asoumugha? 2. Muhammed Wilkerson has looked good in the preseason but can he be the key on a defensive line that lacks real depth 3. Mark Sanchez was thrown into the fire as a rookie and played well in 2 AFC championship games, but has rather average at best.
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Muhammed Wilkerson
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: Shonn Greene
TOUGHEST PART OF SCHEDULE: 3 straight away games in weeks 3, 4, and 5 against Oakland, Baltimore, and New England.
MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: Ironman 2 ...they are brash, but they back it up too.
TEAM: New England Patriots
PREDICTED RECORD: 10-6
KEY PLAYERS: 1. If Albert Haynesworth returns to form this could be the best line in football 2. Chad Ochocinco hasn't looked comfortable in the preseason but is the only legit WR threat on this roster 3. Josh Barrett ..who? The guy that is starting in place of Brandon Meriweather.
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Aaron Hernandez
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: Tom Brady
TOUGHEST PART OF SCHEDULE: Absolutely brutal schedule especially in the middle. Have to travel to Oakland in week 4 after going to Buffalo the week before before getting Dallas and the Jets at home. Then a bye week before traveling to Pittsburgh
MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: Silence of the Lambs ...can't you imagine Belichek chowing down on some fava beans with a nice Chianti thinking about how to derail his buddy Rex? (and yes, this movie was a sequel).
TEAM: Buffalo Bills
PREDICTED RECORD: 5-11
KEY PL AYERS: 1.The unknown left tackle Demetrius Bell needs to anchor an offensive line for a team that can have a surprisingly good offense. 2. Ryan Fitzpatrick can become the first Harvard grad to have a substantial impact in the NFL in the modern era. 3. Can Nick Barnett resurrect his career in Buffalo?
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Marcell Dareus
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: Stevie Johnson
TOUGHEST PART OF SCHEDULE: The heart of there schedule in weeks 5-9 where they play the NFC East with a game against the Jets sandwiched in between with a bye week.
MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: Babe: Pig in the City ...this is that team you love to root for.

PREDICTED RECORD: 4-12
KEY PLAYERS: 1. Can Cameron Wake provide the breakout pass rushing ability he showed last year again? 2. Chad Henne has to prove he's the man to have a job next year 3. Daniel Thomas will need to step up because Reggie Bush has already shown he isn't a true #1 RB.
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Mike Pouncey
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: Brandon Marshall
TOUGHEST PART OF SCHEDULE: Open the season with New England and Houston at home, and then travel to Cleveland and San Diego. Ouch.
MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift .....over hyped and bound to fail.
AFC SOUTH:
TEAM: Houston Texans
PREDICTED RECORD: 12-4
KEY PLAYERS: 1. If Arian Foster's hamstring issue becomes a lingering problem its going to be a huge thorn in the side of this team. 2. Jonathan Joseph was brought in to help one of the league's worst pass defense units. 3. If JJ Watt can be Robin to Mario Williams' batman this defense suddenly turns into a frightening one
BREAKOUT PLAYER: JJ Watt
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: Andre Johnson
TOUGHEST PART OF SCHEDULE: With news of Peyton Manning's season almost over, the Saints and Steelers suddenly emerges as the toughest part of their schedule in weeks 3 and 4.
MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: Godfather II ...a star is born
TEAM: Indianapolis Colts
PREDICTED RECORD: 6-10
KEY PLAYERS: 1. Kerry Collins or whoever is expected to fill in for Peyton Manning 2. Anthony Costanzo ...the rookie is going to anchor an offensive line that won't have the league's premier decision maker at QB anymore 3. Joe Addai is going to be counted on like never before
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Anthony Costanzo
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: Joe Addai
TOUGHEST PART OF SCHEDULE: Now that Peyton Manning probably won't be available until Halloween it'll be interesting to see if this team folds in the first part of the season.
MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: The Matrix: Reloaded ....the original version changed the game, but this is going to be so much worse than what we first saw.
TEAM: Tennessee Titans
PREDICTED RECORD: 5-11
KEY PLAYERS: 1. Kenny Britt needs to be a true #1 if this team wants to deliver. You know what CJ2K will give you, but they need another threat. 2. TOUGHEST PART OF SCHEDULE: Houston, San Diego, Tampa, Atlanta near the end of the season..but lets be honest it probably won't matter by then
MOVIE PREQUEL/SEQUEL COMPARISON: Beverly Hills Cop 2 ...because they are definitely going to Los Angeles.
AFC WEST:
TEAM: San Diego Chargers
PREDICTED RECORD: 13-3
KEY PLAYERS: 1. If Bob Sanders can somehow stay healthy (a huge if) then GM AJ Smith's risk on picking him up looks genius. 2. Donald Butler will be counted on to quarterback the defense at linebacker, but will have the veteran Takeo Spikes to mentor him. 3. Philip Rivers had a huge year while everyone around him fell apart last year...imagine what he'll do if everyone stays healthy.
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Eric Weddle
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: Philip Rivers
TOUGHEST PART OF SCHEDULE: 3 straight away games in weeks 5-8 against Denver, the Jets, and KC (with a bye week in between) only to return home to a heavyweight fight against Green Bay.

TEAM: Kansas City Chiefs
PREDICTED RECORD: 8-8
KEY PLAYERS: 1. Steve Breaston or rookie James Baldwin will need to step up now that expected breakout star TE Tony Moeaki is out for the season 2. Same goes for Glenn Dorsey - time to start earning all that bread.
BREAKOUT PLAYER: Tamba Hali
MUST HAVE FANTASY PLAYER: Jamaal Charles

THE FREAKS 2011 FANTASY FOOTBALL PREDICTIONS SURE TO GO WRONG
1) Tom Brady (NE) throws for 40+ TDs this year. He still doesn’t finish as the top scoring fantasy QB. That title goes to our favorite animal loving, PETA card carrying jailbird.
2) Speaking of giving a dog a bone… Mike Vick (Phil) makes good on his $100 million contract, stays upright for the year, and scores the single highest number of fantasy points EVER scored by a QB in a season
3) Cam Newton (Car) has a bad year in real football (bottom 5 team), but has a pretty good rookie fantasy season (think V. Young’s first year as starting QB)…. I say he rushes for at least 600 yards this season. In most leagues rushing yards & rushing TDs = faster way to pick up points.
4) With one of the most porntastic name in football, Lance Moore (NOLA) & his “pulled groin” will manage to find enough holes to slip into… and catch more balls than any of his other “Saint” teammates…[insert gratuitous receiving better than giving joke here].
5) Keeping with that thought… Lance’s former teammate Bush… Reggie Bush (MIA), now appropriately on the fin’s, actually racks up more catches than Lance Moore. That’s right Reggie Bush at RB will have more receptions than ANY Saints player.
6) Two youngsters that currently stand outside the top 10 TE rankings will wind up with top 5 TE numbers after this season, Jimmy Graham (NOLA) & Lance Kendricks (STL).
7) Moving from young to old… at least 1 if not BOTH of our favorite team wrecking/ QB hating/ “get me the darn ball” WRs will play & contribute to a playoff team this year…. yup we will see more Randy Moss (FA) & T.O (FA) TD celebrations this year….
8) Super Duper loooooooong shot (is it really?)… Broadway Brett Favre (FA) will be called upon by some team this year & will come out of retirement once again … the circumstances & stars really have to align for this one to come true; but, hey, Nostradamus told us all that the world ends this year so what better reason for Favre to give it one more try. It’ll be a mid season injury to a team on the cusp of a title run… 1)Saints, 2) Chargers, 3) Colts, 4)Eagles, or 5)Cowboys most likely site of Sext Gate II.
9) I’m bringing Rexy Back… yeah! Grossman (Wash) get’s his revenge & shows Bear’s executives that it was the offensive scheme & lack of surrounding talent that really caused him to spiral down & out. Grossman holds on to the starting gig in DC & produces similar offensive stats to current Bear’s QB, Jay “Missing playoff games because of a bad” CUTler (Chi).
10) Doppelganger picks (A.K.A. now playing the role of…): Tim Hightower (Wash) is this year’s version Arian Foster lite; D.Mcfadden (Oak) is this year’s version of Chris Johnson, Teenie Weenie Beanie Wells (Arz) will play the role of R. Mendenhall, & Felix Jones (Dal) is this year’s version of L. McCoy
11) By the end of the season, J. Starks (GB) will be a weekly top 10 must start fantasy RB
12) Last year before the season even started I said that Mike Vick (Phil), not K. Kolb would lead & be the Eagles franchise QB …. so here’s this year’s “Vick Pick”: MJD (Jax) will not be living the high life after this year. Deji Karim (Jax) will fill in for him when he gets hurt this year & my man Deji will take over as the Jags starting RB next year. “Vick Pick part Duex” would be Jeromeee “the Homie” Harrison (Det). J. Best (Det) is talented but he better be over his turf toe because Jerome has Jamal Charles (KC) type moves & a hallux of steel.
13) Two of the 4: Kenny Britt, Mike Williams (TB), Vincent Jackson (SD), Santonio Holmes (NYJ) wind up jumping up into top 10 WR this year.
14) Tim Tebow (Den) (yes the “chosen one”/ 3rd stringer out in Denver) will take over as QB, part the sea of D’s and WIN some games.
15) Favorites to win it all again, the Packers, will NOT go back to the Superbowl. They will not even win the NFC North.
15.5) The Eagles beat the Packers in NFC; Pats beat the Jets in the AFC & the Pats beat the Eagles to take the Lombardi Trophy (AGAIN).
15.75) 50% of the aforementioned predictions are SURE to go wrong
Thanks for reading guys. Agree or disagree with anything above? Leave your comments now! Man I can't wait for Football to kick off!
