MAKE A WISH ILLINOIS WORKS WITH THE BEARS AND MAKES A KIDS DREAM A REALITY
Check out this awesome story if you get a moment! Big ups to the Make a Wish Foundation Illinois and the Bears for making this kid's wish come true!
Wish Child Collin from Northbrook wanted to be an NFL Network reporter. His wish came true when NFL Network personality and former Chicago Bear Tom Waddle spent a day working with Collin to perfect his skills. Collin got to spend the day at Bears practice, interviewing players. This is a pretty big deal because the practice he got to attend, was even closed to Media. Collin also got to goto the game at Soldier Field, where he got a chance to do some additional reporting! Collin got to interview several Bears players and even coach Lovie Smith! He loved it and had a great time.
Amazing...so happy for Collin!

DENNIS RODMAN'S EMOTIONAL HALL OF FAME SPEECH
Congrats to former Bull Dennis Rodman on making the Hall of Fame! I am so, so happy for this guy. I can't lie, I used to hate Dennis when he was on the Pistons. Especially when he took those cheap shots on my main man Scottie. But once he became a Bull, I fell in love. How could you not love a guy who gives it his all, 110% on the court in every game. A guy who isn't afraid to guard Shaq, or jump into the stands head first to go and get your team the basketball. It was amazing watching him play, and like he said in the speech, you could tell he played for the love of the game. I'm glad I got to witness him play on the Bulls, during those championship years.
I still can't believe he didn't play his first NBA game until he was 25 years old! Imagine if he came into the league at a younger age! He'd be top five all time rebounding for sure!
Anyways, I loved his speech and loved Dennis Rodman, so this was long overdue. Congrats Dennis!

SPORTS TRAVELER TALKS NBA

In late June the NBA locked out the players and things have been pretty quiet on that front since the CBA expired. The only talk we have heard this summer has been about players "taking their talents" to international teams. This would simply indicate that both the NBA and many of the players do not expect to sign a new CBA any time soon.
The recent influx of NBA players into the international scene has been viewed as troublesome for some people. NBA fans across the country are starting to worry about the future of the NBA. We all know about the financial strain the NBA is under, but is it possible that these international teams could steal players from the NBA? Some believe this is true and that the NBA could collapse, but this threat is comforting to those who subscribe to that belief for the simple reason that it should encourage the NBA to make haste with the new CBA negotiations. The problem with this line of thought is the NBA would love for players to go overseas and play for international teams.
This might sound crazy at first but let us take a look at the facts. For years David Stern has talked about moving franchises overseas and trying to capitalize on the international basketball market. Basketball continues to grow as a sport all around the world and we are starting to see consistent production of talent from many different countries.

If you think that David Stern doesn't want his star players to play in Europe during the lockout then you are mistaken. If Stern's plan is to eventually get a few franchises in Europe (or Asia), then having players like Deron Williams play for European teams is a great way to market and promote basketball in these international cities. Imagine what it will be like for the basketball fans in these international cities. People outside of the U.S. don't have very many opportunities to get tickets to see NBA superstars in live action.
This exposure could cause a massive increase in city and country-wide interest in the sport. The interest could really generate the pride that these fans deserve. If stars like Williams create the buzz I anticipate then David Stern might get that last push of support he needs to move a few franchises to Europe. This might not be a horrible idea for a league that has seven teams that finished in the red last year.
If the lockout continues into the season watch for more high profile players to sign contracts overseas. Deron is currently the only NBA "star" to commit to playing in Europe. The only other notable veterans are Sasha Vujacic and Jordan Farmar. There are also a few players that have set an October 1 deadline to decide on whether to go international or not. Some of the notable players are Kendrick Perkins, Rajon Rondo, Stephen Jackson, Kevin Durant, and James Harden. Aside from them, there are also over 75 other players that will consider playing overseas if the lockout carries into the season. That list includes names to the likes of Kobe Bryant, Amare Stoudamire, Carlos Boozer, Rudy Gay, Dwight Howard, Blake Griffin, and Steve Nash. As you can see there is no lack of star power on this list.

It won't happen overnight but the NBA is looking to continue to make money and I think David Stern believes a European expansion is a revolutionary and practical way to do so.
NBA 2011-12 Forecast: No NBA Season with a chance of over seas expansion.
