• in 1973, Ken Norton won a split decision victory over Muhammad Ali in one of the biggest upsets in boxing history to win the North American Boxing Federation Heavyweight Championship Title.   In the fight, Ken Norton broke The Greatest's jaw.  It was the 2nd defeat in Muhammad Ali's illustrious career. 

Happy Birthday to...

• the former all-star guard and NBA champion, Steve Smith, who turns 41 years old today.  Steve was the 5th overall pick by the Miami Heat in the 1991 NBA Draft.  He played his college ball at Michigan State and finished his college career with a school record 2,263 points.
