STONE COLD LEAD PIPE DOCKS - WEEK 16

ZOE S! GO SEE AVATAR IN 3D!!!

(Last Week 1-3-1)
(Overall 42-34-1)

Well I almost had it. My goal of 60% correct picks for the season would've been nearly guaranteed if I would've nailed last week. Unfortunately, I was at the club last week until about 5 am, saw Antoine Walker gettin f'd up even though he's supposedly bankrupt, and woke up about 30 minutes before kick off. I had a pretty bad week that I feel could've been avoided if I were sober. Well, I'm currently wasted from last night. AGAIN. But let's see if I can get back on the horse. Pause.

Saints -14
Tough week for the Saints last week. But they are still fighting for that #1 seed. So I expect them to come out like Jim Jones and murk these foo's. Josh Freeman has been struggling. I believe Darren Sharper is a game time decision, but I hope he plays because he's been the kryptonite for these rookie qb's he's faced. 5 INT's against rookies I believe? Something like that. Sean Payton will want to get his offense back on track after that performance last week, so expect Drew Brees and them to play the entire time, and to just ball. The Saints will win this one big.

Steelers -3
The Steelers are fighting for their playoff lives. They are at home. They won a game last week that they basically shouldn't have, but it ended a long losing streak for them. They are the Ravens' Daddy in Life, so I expect them to dominate this one. There will be mass causalities in this one. They should send the tape of this game to the NFL offices for why NFL football should be outlawed because these guys will kill each other today. But in the end, Ed Reed is out, and I believe the Steelers will win at home to make up for that early season matchup they lost with Dennis Dixon. Somehow, someway I still believe the Steelers make the playoffs. I mean come on. This is the biggest reverse jinx I'm pulling, and I hope I'm dead wrong. I hate this team.

Jets +4
I think I drunkenly saw Rex Ryan give a speech about how his team isn't trying hard enough. And I believe Peyton and them aren't going to play a full game. So gimme the points in this one. I wish I got this at +7 because that is a mortal lock. But I'll take +4, and roll the dice. The Sanchise needs to show up in this one...and considering he'll probably be playing the Colts backups for a half, I like his chances.

Chiefs +14
The Chiefs can't play much worse than they did last week, making Jerome Harrison look like Jim Brown in his prime. So I expect a semi-bounce-back game from them. On the other hand, its been a trying couple of weeks for the Bengals with Chris Henry's death. I don't see how they can maintain their high intensity from last week, so I expect them to kind of lolly-gag (pause) through this one. Jamaal Charles will get his, Matt Cassell will make a couple throws, and the Chiefs will make it interesting.

Cowboys -7
The Redskins are a mess right now. Jim Zorn is a lame duck coach. Albert Haynesworth thinks he looks like a bust. And the odds that Jason Campbell will have a 100th offensive coordinator are pretty good. Meanwhile, the Cowboys are in a must win. Not a good combo. I know they are do for a let down after that Saints win last week, but I just don't see it happening this week. Especially with all this noise being made about their December struggles. They'll show up, and win again. BTW, how is this the Monday Night game?

(Overall 28-32-1)

I've been colder than Mush from a Bronx Tale. Fade me...

Cowboys -7
I don't like taking too many favorites late in the season, because as we saw last week, you never know what will happen. A ton of underdogs played hard and for pride last week, and some of them even won straight up. That being said, there were a few teams who did not come to play, and the Skins are one of those teams. With nothing to play for anymore, to me, it looks like the Skins have packed their bags for the off season already. Flip that around, and the Cowboys really, really need this game. Romo and co. came up with a huge win last week, and I see them beating up a bad Skins team in this game to keep their playoff hopes rolling. I know the Skins D is ranked high, but they are beefing right now. Either Blache or Haynesworth, or maybe both, have lost their mind, and that won't help them this week. Romo should easily be able to put up some pts. I think the main matchup to look at in this game is the Cowboys Dline vs the Skins OLine. The Skins might actually have a worse line than my bears, so you know Ware has been licking his chops all week for this matchup. I see Campbell getting no time back there today. It might get ugly for him and this Skins offense. The Boys roll by 10+!

Texans +1
Warning, but most of the times I bet on the Texans, I lose. I know this is a playoff battle, and I love what the Fins are doing, but I see the Texans winning this game straight up. Jobs are on the line in Houston too, so that should be some added incentive for these guys, at least for the Coaches. The matchup I love the most is the Texans passing game vs the Fins Pass D. The Fins have the 23rd ranked pass D, and they have the third highest YPA against them. This should mean a field day for the Schaub Andre Johnson combo. The Fins secondary is weak and frankly, I just don't see them making enough plays or stopping the Texans passing offense. I also like the Texans young defense to be another deciding factor in this game. They are top 12 vs the pass, and they are also solid vs the run. I see them containing Ricky Williams in this gone. Texans win straight up...

Broncos +7
I know this won't be a popular pick this week, but I'm going with Orton, the Broncos, and the pts in this one. The Eagles are explosive, but the Broncos have the third ranked pass defense in the game. I see the Broncos D keeping this one close and them limiting the Eagles big plays. With the Broncos fighting for their playoff lives, I see expect Orton to limit his mistakes, and for Buckhalter and Moreno to pound the ball on the ground. There are also big time players in this game, and even though BMarsh goes nuts sometimes, he is one of them. He put on a performance for the ages recently, and I see him carrying the Broncos on his back, and popping off again in this game.

Panthers +9
The Panthers should me something last week vs the Vikings. That even though they are out of the playoffs, they will still play hard for the rest of the season. They still have a ton of stars in Peppers, Stewart, and Steve Smith, and all of them looked great last week too. Moore to Smith actually looked nice last week too, and I expect more of that this week vs a banged up Giants secondary missing Ross and Webster. The Giants run defense is very suspect, so I do see Stewart having a huge day. I see the Panthers keeping the game close, which is why I will take more than a touchdown, pts wise, in this one.

Jets +4
The Jets are fighting for their playoff lives, and the Colts have nothing to play for. In the past, the Colts have always rested their players, and I don't see that changing in the second half of this one. Even though the Colts have a new Coach, it seems like an organizational belief to rest players, more than anything. I also think Rex Ryan will dial up the blitzes and try to hit Peyton early, and put him to the ground. If this happens, they will pull Peyton for sure. The Colts also have a ton of key players banged up, especially on the defensive end of the ball, so look for them to rest too. The Jets do have the number 1 pass defense in the game, so I look for them to keep this game close when the Colts starters are in. I also expect a heavy dosage of Thomas Jones vs this suspect Colts run defense, again keeping the game close in the first half. I will take the pts. in this one.

(Last Week 2-2-1)
(Overall 36-29-3)

Eagles (-7) - As I have said for the past few weeks....DO NOT BET AGAINST THE EAGLES in meaningful December games. Eagles want that 2 seed and will put a whopping on the sliding Denver Broncos. Eagles by 10.

Ravens (+3) - The smart play here is Pittsburgh, as they are still in the playoff hunt and at home...but the boys from BodyMore are in control of their own destiny. Look for the Ravens to play a close game and pull it out in the end. Ray Rice being the difference maker

Giants (-7.5) - This one is going to be ugly is all I got to say.....Giants by ALOT

Cowboys (-7) - Even though they are not the strongest team in December, I got faith in the Romo led Cowboys. Look for the 'Boys to go in DC and dictate play to the broken Redskins. Too much turmoil in the DC camp and too much talent in Dallas. This one will be over early. Cowboys by 14

Colts (-4) - This is all predicated on Manning playing, but I have a feeling 16-0 means a whole lot more than they are leading on. Look for Manning to play and the Colts to roll the Jets. Colts will cover.
