STONE COLD LEAD PIPE DOCKS - WEEK 9

Congrats Yankees. The Cubs got it next year!!!

(Last week 3-2)
(Overall 15-9-1)

Packers -9 (bought hook) - Tampa Bay is starting the Josh Freeman experiment in this game, which already means bad news for the Bucs, especially since Freeman is supposedly out of shape and overweight right now. And starting him also means that the Bucs will try to rely on their running game, but that is a bad match up vs this solid Packers run defense. The Packers AR will pass all over this Bucs team, but I see RyanGrant doing a lot of damage in this game. Bucs are the worst in the game vs the run giving up 4.7 YPC, and because of AR, there won't be many defenders in the box. I see the Packers cruising and winning this game by two touchdowns...

Niners -4 - I see the Niners making a statement in this home game. If they want to make the playoffs, their run starts here. I got faith in Singletary to get this team ready at home for this W. Titans struggle vs the run so look for Gore to put up a huggge day. I also see the Titans strength being their run game, which is what the Niners D is built to stop. They rank 2nd vs the run, and it will help them cover this spread in this game. If they make VY pass, they will cover easily. I see them controlling this game at home and winning by at least a touchdown...

Chargers +5 - The Giants keep burning me, so I will take the Chargers and the pts in this one. Eli has been struggling the past few weeks, so it looks like this injury is really affecting him. The Giants D has been struggling, especially vs the pass. And now you got the Chargers and their NBA type WR's coming to town. The loss of Aaron Ross is big time for this Giants D. I see Rivers and company putting up a lot of big plays on this pass defense. I know the Chargers run D struggles, but I like their offense enough to take the pts in this one. I see this as a last drive ending type of game, so I will take the pts...

Steelers - 3 - The Ravens basically put the blue print out there last week on how to beat the Broncos. The broncos face this Steelers D, which is bad news for KO and co. Pitt will bring all kinds of pressure to KO, and disrupt the Broncos passing game. We also know the Steelers are stout vs the run, so that won't help the Broncos either. Losing their safety is big for the Steelers, but I still see them being ok match ups wise in this game. Denver is a tough place to play for sure, but these are the kind of games this Steelers D lives for. The Broncos are missing their starting RT, which is huge. Their OLine is one of their biggest strengths and when someone as important as Ryan Harris is out, that will definitely be a factor in this game. I will take the Steelers, as I see them winning by a touchdown or more...

Texans +9 - I know the Colts have owned the Texans the past few years, but I think that changes this year. This is not your .500 ball club Texans. I got faith in Schaub to keep this one close, even without Owen Daniels. Look for Kevin Walter to step up in Daniels place, and even though Slaton might be struggling on the ground, I see him doing a lot of damage on receptions in this game. I also see him and Moats doing well vs the Colts who have a weak rush defense. And with Bob Sanders and Hayden being out, I see Schaub and the Texans keeping up with Manning in this game. The Texans play the run well, but can they stop Manning? If they ever want to make the playoffs, they will have to beat the Colts. Here is their chance. I will take the pts...

Packers -9.5

Josh Freeman's first game. Enough said. The Packers are coming off another emotionally draining loss at the hands of their daddy, Brett Favre. However, this isn't a bad team that is going to fold. There is too much talent at the skill positions. The offensive line is struggling, but Tampa Bay doesn't have a menacing defensive that can take advantage of that. Meanwhile, the Bucs have been in disarray. I don't think the bye week will do them any good. So unless Josh Freeman turns out to be a stud from Day 1, I see the Packers rolling in this one.

Texans +9

I can't really figure this line out. The Texans have been playing decently, so I expect them to keep this divisional game closer than 9 points. It may have to do with the mystery of Steve Slaton. I have no idea if this guy is injured, in the dog house, or if he is just slow from that weight he put on in the offseason. But he was a non factor last week. That one guy from that one small school, I forget his name, filled it admirably though. I was pretty tore up at the bar watching this game, and couldn't believe how badly that guy, I think his name is Moats, was tearing up the Bills D. I couldn't figure out if I was just blitzed, or if I was actually seeing this. But I digress....Texans keep it close.

Cardinals +3

What the hell happened to this team last week? They definitely didn't show up. Kurt Warner suddenly looked extremely old. Turnovers galore. And DeAngelo Williams was reborn. On the other hand, I saw the Bears first hand put a whooping on the Browns. Well not first hand, but on the tv. Anyways, I wasn't impressed. I got the feeling watching that game, that if the Browns had any semblance of an offensive team they would've won. Also, I'm testing out a theory that any team that has to play the Browns one week, will play horribly the next week because they won't be used to playing a real team. It's too much of a step up. Combine that with a Cardinals wake up call I think they take this one on the road.

Seahawks -10

The Lions pass defense is porous. Matt Hasslebeck has been relatively effective against the bad teams he's played. So I think he'll torch this team. As far as the Lions offense goes, it'll be interesting to see if Calvin Johnson plays coming off that injury. With or without him, it'll be rookie quarterback's Matt Stafford's first trip to Seattle, a notoriously tough place to play. That crowd is right on top the players, and makes it difficult to do anything. So I'll take the Seahawks in a romp.

Chargers +4.5

This is more of a knock on how the Giants are playing, than how well the Chargers are playing. Nothing has been going right for the G-Men since that massacre in New Orleans. Eli Manning suddenly looks shaky. Brandon Jacobs seems unhappy. And their WR's are struggling. The Chargers on the other hand are playing great offense. Philip Rivers is quietly having an All-Pro type year. Although I think the Giants can easily win this one, I think it'll be a close one.

(Last week 2-3)
(Overall 14-18-1)

Chargers (+4.5) - battle of underachieving teams (yet again). After blistering start against sub par opponents, the Giants have come back to Earth and are in a dog fight in the NFC East. The Chargers are the epitome of mediocrity this season with their inconsistent play. But this again comes down to who is more desperate for the win, and that would be the Chargers. Look for the Bolts to come in to Zoo York and rattle the Giants a little bit and steal a win.

Cowboys (+3) – Cowboys and Eagles…man the NFC East is a BEAST!!!!! This is going to be a very entertaining game with all the explosive playmakers on both side of the ball for both teams. Te key here will be the protection of McNabb. If he gets time he will put the Cowboys to sleep, however if he is pressured, the Cowboys will win this one. IMO I think the Cowboys is up to the challenge and will disrupt the Eagles O. Cowboys by 6

Steelers (-3) – Big Ben and company are going to roll the Broncos……Broncos over hyped and about to be EXPOSED the rest of the year. Put some thick pants on Denver this about to be a SPANKING!!!!!!!!!

Bengals (+3) – A rematch between Ray Ray and Ocho Cinco. The first meeting Benson and the Cincy line played solid against a vaunted ravens defense. Look for the same this time around. Cincy at home with the crowd will make a push to remain atop the AFC and Carson Palmer will demonstrate why he was once considered an elite level QB. Bengals by 7

Saints (-13.5) – Brees, Superdome, and sick offense. This one gonna be ugly fellas. Saints by A LOT….

Good luck everyone...
