After a horrible week of picking last weekend, we are back with our picks for this week. Hopefully we can bounce back strong. GLUCK...
IP's Pix:
Buffalo at Miami- (Bills -1) – Miami is a tough out this year…….the unique offense they have is very fun to watch and difficult to stop. The Bills are coming off a big home win against my Chargers and are due for a let down…but Mr. Trent Edwards will not let that happen. With the savvy QB running the show the Bills find a way to win. Bills 28-24.
Chargers vs. Saints- (Chargers -3) – I just can't stay away from my Chargers. Gut instinct tells me to take the Saints as the Bolts have traveled from the left coast to play the Bills and then directly to England for this week's game. Rivers & Co. didn't go back home to relax so they will be travel dazed fro sure. This game is about necessity….both teams NEED this game to stay afloat in their respective divisions. Drew Brees is lighting it up out there but with no Reggie Bush that big play offensively is all but gone. Look for the Chargers to dictate to the Saints and win this one by a touch. Chargers 31-24
Rams at Patriots – (Evil Empire -7) – Man Bellichucky has horrible karma no? Franchise QB Tom Brady has had like 15 operations on that bum knee……ol' boy got an infection!!!!!!! Let this be a lesson to all not to cheat….EVER!!!!!!! Okay so back to the game, Patriots at home are pretty sick. Matt Cassel is coming along just fine and is finally incorporating Mr. Moss into the game. The Rams look like they are back and have been giant slayers the past couple of weeks. Look for that trend to end against a very very good home team. Pats by 10. 27-17
Giants at Steelers- (Giants + 2) – Big Ben vs. Eli is going to be a good one…..both quarterbacks have emerged as elite level play callers and are strong leaders. This game is going to come down to time of possession…if the Steelers can win the clock battle in this game they will win. However I do not think this will happen. Manning and Plax will lead a balanced run/pass attack and the Giants defense will get pressure on Big Ben. Look for the Giants to come in and stun a very good Steelers team. Giants 24-20
UPSET OF THE WEEK:
Colts at Titans- (Colts +4) – This is a risky pick here….Titans at home are pretty scary. The defensive front line they have always creates havoc and their offense is actually doing a good job this year complementing the defense. But never count out Peyton and his smarts. Look for the Colts to control the clock in this game….take their time on drives and dink and dunk the Titans into frustration. This game will be close all the way through but look for the Colts to win on a last second Adam Vinateri field goal. Colts 20-17
Vik's Pix:
Raiders at Ravens (Ravens -8) - I'm going with the Ravens in this one. They proved me wrong last week, so I am a believer. Their D at home today will be ready to cause some havoc against the Raiders, and they should be able to run the ball a lot today. Flacco is also a lot better at home, so he should be able to control the game through the air. The Raiders did show some life in their last game, but I think this will be a let down game for them. They are traveling all the way to Balt, and they are in for a rude awakening today.
Falcons at Eagles (Eagles - 8) - Matt Ryan and the Falcons are legit. That being said, I really like the Eagles in this game. Whenever Ryan has been pressured, he has struggled, and the Eagles are going to pressure the hell out of Ryan in this one with their blitzing defense. If Ryan thought he had been pressured before, wait until he sees what is thrown at him today. The Eagles also have a solid run D, so they should be able to contain Turner. On the other side of the ball, the Eagles are as healthy as they have been in a long time. Westbrook, McNabb, Curtis and everyone is pretty healthy for this one. I look for them to have a big bounce back game at home today. It's also kind of a must win for the Eagles since they need to catch up in their division after a bad loss in their last game. McNabb and Reid and co. will be ready to bring the pain today. Take the Eagles.
Bucs at Cowboys (Bucs +3) - I know the Cowboys are at home and are facing a must win situation, but I still like the Bucs in this one. I've been watching them play all year long, and their defense is for real. They will pressure and batter Brad Johnson, who struggled last weekend badly. The Bucs will also pound the ball on the ground, which will open up their passing game. Garcia has been doing well at QB for the Bucs, and look for him to exploit this weaker Dallas secondary in the second half of the game. I put my faith in the Cowboys last weekend, but after watching them play, I realized they have a ton of issues right now. Roy Williams himself won't even know the entire playbook for a couple of weeks now. The Bucs D is good enough to keep them in this game, and I wouldn't be surprised if they win outright, so I will take the pts.
Bengals at Texans (Bengals +10) - I can't believe I am doing this. I don't even know why I am doing this. But, I really like the Bengals in this game. I was really disappointed in the Texans last weekend, because they could not demolish the lowly Lions. While I do think they can win this game, I think 10 pts is a little too much to be giving in this game, especially because the Bengals are a lot better than the Lions. The Bengals have been playing progressively better week to week, so I think they can hang around in this one. The main sticking point for me in this one was the fact that the Texans couldn't put the Lions away last weekend. Because of that, I will take the pts.
Rams at Pats (Pats -7) - Some people are saying the Rams might be able to hang in this one, but I just don't see it. With SJax out, the Pats defense will be able to contain this Rams offense. The Rams are playing inspired ball right now, but I think this is the week they come back to reality. The Pats seem to be finding themselves right now, and with this game being at home, I look for that to continue. Cassell will do what he needs to, to win, and as the Pats showed last weekend vs the Broncos, they can stick whoever they need into the backfield and be productive. I look for Kevin Faulk to have a big game today. I will give the pts in this one.
