I'm pretty depressed after this Cubs series this week, so there won't be much of an opening for this one. FNL started back up this week, so check it out if you get a chance. Great show. Ip and myself both had winning weekends last week, so let's try to keep that going this weekend. Gluck...
IP's Pix:
(Last Week 3-2)
(Overall 10-10)
Colts at Houston (Colts -3) - Another one of those tough divisional match ups reader as the intensity in these games goes up quite a bit and the scores reflect this. Houston is coming off a tough OT loss to the Jags last week. They showed they can put up some points and hang with a team that many considered the class of the division. But don't discount Peyton Manning. With a broken down offensive line Peyton has managed to keep his team right in the thick of things and they seem to be getting healthy. Look for manning and the boys to pull this one out in Houston. Colts 27-17
Minnesota at Saints (Saints-3)- Can anyone stop Drew Brees? Nobody is talking about him and this team but they are quietly having a very productive offensive year. Reggie Bush is a difference maker and it seems no matter who they put out the Brees finds a way to make the players around him better. Adrian Peterson will have a good day against the Saints defense but it will not be enough with an inconsistent passing attack. Saints 30-17
Chargers at Dolphins (Chargers -7) - Chargers are about to go on that streak they go on in the middle of the season. They seem to hit there stride around this time of the season and separate themselves from the pack. As long as Philip Rivers continues his solid play the team will be fine. The defense will come around soon enough. Look for LT to go nuts this game. Chargers in a shootout 38-27.
Patriots at 49ers (Pats -3) – Coming off a whooping at the hands of the Dolphins, look for Belichucky's boys to be prepared and focused. Hoody probably had the team practice really well this week for a surprising Niners squad. Look for Moss to make an impact this game as he has been quiet all year. Patriots 24-14
LOCK OF THE WEEK:
Steelers at Jaguars ( Jags -4)- What a win on Monday night by Big Ben and the Steelers!!!! Great comeback and great game…but it came at a price. The Steelers are all banged up and just don't have the horses to match up with a physical Jaguars team. This couple with them playing this game on a short week due to the Monday night game makes it tough not to take the Jaguars. Look for Jacksonville to beat up the Steelers on both sides of the ball and win this physical game. Jaguars 21-10.
Vik's Pix:
(Last Week - 4-1)
(Overall - 13-7)
Pats (-3) at Niners - The Pats got embarrassed a couple of weeks ago, and they are angry. I feel like they are too good of a team not to bounce back this weekend vs the upstart Niners. The Hoody Master also had a bye week to prepare for the Niners, and that usually spells Doom for any Pats opponent. The Niners D is suspect and the Hoody master will find ways to put up pts in this one. I think the Pats will come out amped and well prepared for this game, and that should help them take care of business at SF. I will go with what I know best, and that's with the Pats in this one, especially after a bye week. Give the pts..
SHawks at Giants (Giants -7) - I know the 'Hawks are getting Engram and Branch back this weekend, and their offense should be better after this bye week, but I just can't get myself to take them in this one. The Hawks are like night and day when you compare how they play at home and away. I expect them to play like their usual road selves, and lose big in this game. The Giants are just a much better overall football team through the numbers. They are statistically better in every phase of the game in this match up. Their defense will dominate the Hawks in this game. Even though Plax is out for this game, the Giants have a dominant running game, and WR's that can fill in for a week. This Giants team always seems to play better anyways when these kinds of things happen to them, so I look for that to continue this week. I'll give the pts.
Bengals at Cowboys (Bengals +17) - I know I vowed not to take the Bengals again this year after their week 1 loss, but I have to take the pts in this one. 17 pts is insane, and the Bungles are not that bad, or I pray, can't be that bad tomorrow. All signs indicate Carson will play Sunday, and he gets Chris Henry as his WR3 option. I know the Boys are mad about their loss last week and although I do see them winning this game easily, I just think 17 pts is wayyyy to much for this game and for this team. I swear if the Bungles lose this for me, I will never bet on them again, EVER!!! Take the 17 and if all else fails and they are getting waxed, pray for a backdoor cover.
Steelers at Jags (Jags -4) - I'm loving the Jags in this game. IF you have a little extra cash, and don't mind paying the juice, I'd buy the line to 3 and go big on this game if possible. The Steelers are banged up, and they are coming off of a bye week. They have no running game to think of, and Big Ben will be forced to go one dimensional in this game. The only problem for him is that his Oline is missing, and the Jags are one of the most physical teams in the game. That's not a good combination for Big Ben in this one. If you thought he took a beating from the Ravens, wait until you watch this game. The Jags are also playing a lot better football as of late, and are getting some injured players back. They will be at home, and their physical style will take a toll on the Steelers in this one. Look for them to dominate on both ends of the ball, and for the Jags to take an early lead and for them to keep it throughout the game. Give the pts.
Vikings at Saints ( Saints -3) - Although the Vikings have been playing better as of late, I am not sold on them yet. They will need to show me they can go on the road and get a W vs a good team, and until they do that, I will keep betting against them like I am in this spot. I just don't see their offense keeping up with the Saints offense in this game, and their passing defense is still pretty weak. If you thought Brees was having field days in the past few weeks, wait until you see him play on this Monday Night. Another thing to keep in mind is that the Saints have Reggie Bush. The Vikings have one of the best run defenses in the league, especially between the tackles. But the Saints will run and pass to Bush on the outside, and this will mean trouble for the Saints. I will take the Saints and give the pts.
Gluck as always playaz...
