To me, this mini story below is exactly what makes MJ the G.O.A.T. I'm currently re reading the Jordan Rules by Sam Smith right now, and on page 65 of the paper back edition, Smith talks about what MJ did to the Jazz one night back in '88.
Some of you guys might have not heard this story, so check out this segment from the Jordan Rules below. Smith writes...
" One unforgettable demonstration of his (Jordan) competitive drive was in 1988 against the Utah Jazz. Jordan stole a pass and got out ahead of the field to dunk over guard John Stockton to a thundering roar. Even on the road Jordan's dunks are cheered, especially in the Western Conference cities where the Bulls make just one visit a year. Utah owner Larry Miller was sitting at center court in the first row and yelled to Jordan as he passed by, "Why don't you pick on someone your own size?"
A Few sequences later, Jordan again made a steal, but this time was closing in on a basket guarding by 7 feet center Mel Turpin. Jordan sped up just a bit and appeared to grab hold of Turpin's shirt, boosting himself up and dunking over the powerful center.
Running back to his defensive end, Jordan turned to Miller and yelled, "He big enough for you?"
Haha, wow, that is just nasty, and that nastiness is exactly what made Jordan great. After reading this part, I knew I had to find this on YouTube to see it for myself, and boom, I found it. Check it out below...
The dunks on this YouTube look a little different than described by Smith, but this is definitely the dunk by MJ over Turpin, and at the end of the video you can see Jordan asking Miller "He big enough for you?"
You got to love it. MJ = G.O.A.T. Man I miss those Bulls and MJ days. We will rise again fellow Bulls fans. Go Bulls!!!
