After another great weekend of watching football, and WINNING MONEY, we are back at it this week to give you our Stone Cold Lead Pipe Docks of the Week. Last week IP went 3-2 and I went 4-1, so hopefully we can continue on with our winning ways this weekend. We saw some pretty nice games out there, so here goes...
IP'S PIX:
(Last week 3-2)
(Overall 5-5)
Arizona at Washington (Skins -3) - Jason Campbell got some stones man. That toss against the Saints in crunch time was unreal, easily the best deep ball thrown this year in the NFL. The Skins are a maddening team in that one minute they look just terrible and the next play look like world beaters…which is a betting man's worst nightmare. For this reason and the fact that Kurt "Get It Done' Warner is on a roll with that offense in the desert I will have to go with the Cardinals. They have a lot of fire power and while playing on the road is tough, especially in the nation's capital, I anticipate the Cardinals getting it done with that smooth offense. Cards 24-17
Cleveland at Baltimore (Ravens -2.5) – The dirty birds from Maryland have had an extended time off to prepare for this game. This is a very intense rivalry between these two teams and also the cities. The Miami University star power will be on display in this game. The Browns have gone from a potential contender mode to salvage season mode. The inconsistency of the offense is a major problem…Derek Anderson where you at man? Not all his fault as Braylon has as almost as many drops as Michael Phelps has gold medals this year. Even with all these negatives the Browns should be able to go into Baltimore and take care of business against Joe "Speedster" Flacco. Browns are respectable on the defensive side of the ball and should win this game by a touch. Browns 17-10
Detroit at San Francisco (Niners -4) - Call me crazy here but I like the Lions in this one. The talent they have on offense is way too appealing. It is a dangerous pick for sure because of the inconsistency of the Lions defense but I feel that Megatron (he should be called Optimus Prime because he is good not bad) and Roy "No Love from Kitna" Williams will step it up a notch on the left coast and get it done. Still not sold on J.T. O'Sullivan….although Frank Gore is the truth. Lions 30-24
New Orleans at Denver (Denver -5.5) – Dam you Jay-Z Cutler!!!!!!!!!!!! You have turned into a pretty sick quarterback and did some damage to my beloved Chargers. On a side note real quick I was upset by the call that Ed "Gun Show" Hoc-a-loogie made but real talk…ol' boy is an awesome referee and at least he is not hiding behind the league office regarding the situation. Unfortunate for my Bolts but lets stop berating this guy. He made a mistake and was man enough to admit it. Denver is looking smooth on offense with the zone blocking and the Jay-Z Cutler and Brandon Marshall Mather's connection. New Orleans with quarterback Drew "Cool" Brees are pretty proficient on offense also. Going into Mile High and winning is a tall order but the inability of Denver to stop anyone on offense and the poise of Drew Brees will carry the Saint in my opinion to a W. Worst case scenario is that the Saints play a close game and come up short but will cover. Saints 31-27
LOCK OF THE WEEK:
Dallas at Green Bay (Packers -3) - Brett Favre who??? I don't know about you but me thinks that Green bay is Mr. Rodgers neighborhood. The QB from Cal is lighting it up with back to back 300 yard games. Here is the real test though…can he do it against the juggernaut that is the Cowboys? America's team is playing with a lot of swag and confidence and even though they are on a short week, it will be difficult to circumvent all of that talent on both sides of the ball. Mr. Romo is efficient and accurate and has finally realized how to make his blonde bombshell of a girlfriend a non-factor during the games. Look for the Big TO Terrell Owens to have a huge day with Felix Jones running all over the field against the Cheese heads. Dallas 31-17
Vik's PIX:
(Last Week 4-1)
(Overall 6-4)
Texans at Titans(-5) - I love the Texans offense, but I am going to have to go with the Titans in this one. The Titans have been underrated for a long time now, and the same goes for them on the betting front. People forget how good this team has been throughout the years, and how dominant their defense has been this year. The will pound the Texans on the ground with CJohnson and LWhite, and their Defense will do their job vs the Texans passing attack. I also feel like the Texans heads just will not be in the game unfortunately because of Hurricane Ike. A lot of the players will be affected by what's going on back home, as we saw with the Saints the year the Hurricane affected them. The Texans also just do not have the defense to stop the Titans running attack in this one, so I am like the Titans by over a TD.
Rams(+10) at SHawks - I know this is a crazy pick since the Rams have been terrible this year, but I am taking the pts in this one. The SHawks have been a solid team throughout the years, but this year they have been really struggling. They also do not have any capable WR's on this offense right now, and that is why they are struggling. I know they signed two WR's this weekend, but they are not good enough to make that much of a difference this week into their seasons. The Rams showed me they had some life in them last weekend, and I look for them to be able to hang with the Hawks in this game. Bulger, SJax, and Holt wil be out to prove they are still solid football players, and the Rams coach is fighting for his Coaching existence in this must win. I will take the 10 pts in this one, the Hawks are not 10 pts better, sorry.
Jags(+6) at Colts - I know the Jags have looked terrible this season, but I look for that to turn around Sunday. Coach Del Rio will have them fired up for this match up and this weekend's game is a must win for them. The Jags have also had the right formula to give the Colts problems these past couple of years, and I look for that to continue this weekend. The Jags have also signed some Free Agent OLine help, and that should help them out this weekend. The Colts also do not have a big physical front, so that should help out the Jags O as well. Also, Saturday is coming back for Manning and the Colts, but they have just looked out of sync in this young season. Couple that with facing a tough Jags defense, and I am taking the Jags in this one.
Lions at Niners (-4) - I'm going to keep betting against the Lions until they show me something. Their defense has just been horrible and they can not stop anyone if their lives depended on it. Look for Gore to just have a monster game, and for Martz to get some revenge against his former team. The Niners are looking like a new team this season, and everyone is playing hard and having fun their. Their Defense is underrated and I look for them to contain the Lions offense enough to win this game by a Tuddy at least. O'Sully has looked great a QB for the Niners as well, and look for him to have a big game in this one too. Gore and the Lions defense are the x-factors in this one, and I am going to go with the proven commodity in Gore.
Jets(+10) at Chargers - I know the Chargers are one of the best teams in football, but I don't like them laying 10 pts in this game. The Jets are a pretty solid overall football team, and they will be in this game until the end. Their defense, running game, and QB are all experienced and can play on the road. Chargers stadium is definitely not hostile territory either, so they will be fine. The Chargers are a solid team, but injuries and bad luck have hampered them this year. I don't think they will lose this game, but giving up 10 pts to a solid Jets team is way too much for me. Take the Jets and the pts.
Gluck playaz!!!
