Every week starting this week, myself and my buddies Ravi, Cohin, and Sanket will be putting out our weekly Docktor's Order. It's basically a spin off of all those NFL Power Rankings you see out there, but with our own twist on it.
Hopefully you guys can check them out, and if you disagree with them, be sure to let us know in the comments section.
Here is who makes up our rankings crew...
Sanket Shah (SS): Lions Fanatic; Domain of expertise - NFC North, NFC East, NFC West
Ravi Kumrah (RK): Packers extremist; Domain of expertise - AFC South; NFC North
Vikas Chokshi (VC): Bears Homer; Domain of expertise - NFC North; NFC South
Cohin Kakar (CK): Steelers Maniac; Domain of expertise - AFC North; AFC East, AFC WestEnough with the formalities, here are our Docktor's Orders, COME GET SOME!!!
| (1) Cowboys | The 'Boys and the Steelers are pretty much interchangeable in this number 1 spot, and the 'Boys just slightly edged out the Steelers for this one. Dallas dominated a pretty solid and talented Browns team on the road, and their offense looked amazing. (VC) |
| (2) Steelers | With Brady's injury and Indy, Jacksonville, and SD looking mediocre in Week 1, Pittsburgh is the clear front runner in the AFC . With Big Ben playing great, Willie and Hines returning to prime form, and a stout defense, look for the Steelers to make another run to the Super Bowl (CK) |
| (3) Eagles | D'Nabb and a ball hawking D. 'Nuff Said! (SS) |
| (4) Saints | Will the real Reggie Bush please stand up? Maybe realizing he is not a 3-down pounding type back isn't a bad thing. The defense is on it's way up too.(RK) |
| (5) Giants | Retooled defense played well, and Manning did enough. Sounds a lot like last year except it's going to be tough to creep up on people this time around. (RK) |
| (6) Chargers | I had a hard time justifying them even in the top 10, but we will give LT the benefit of the doubt. Gates will only get stronger as the year progresses. Merriman is done for the year, and this could have a huge backlash on the defense. (CK) |
| (7) Packers | The "what-ifs" and #4 jerseys aren't going away anytime soon. But holding fort against a division rival is a good way to start off Packers v2.0. (RK) |
| (8) Panthers | Delhomme came back from the unthinkable and threw a hell of a game, even without his #1 weapon, Steve Smith. The D looks tough, and the RBBC will wear down D's all season long. (CK) |
| (9) Jets | Yes sir! Despite their sorry season last year, everyone's new favorite team is going to make some huge noise this year. Faneca and Favre headline the Jets great off season. Them two, paired with Brady's injury, Thomas Jones, and Cotchery's deadline to blowup, this team is primed to take their division. (CK) |
| (10) Jags | Injuries. Injuries. Injuries. And more injuries. Can the Jags get over it? (SS) |
| (11) Bears | I had them ranked higher, but my fellow haters on this post voted them lower, so they land at 11 this week. This weekend will give us a better indicator of which Bears team we are going to see during the upcoming season, the '06 team squad or the '07 one. I have my money on the'06 team, as long as everyone can stay healthy (knock on wood). (VC) |
| (12) Colts | Sure they lost their home opener in their new stadium, but once the rust shakes off, they'll be back in prime form and ready to make another run at the title. (CK) |
| (13) Patriots | I know this is low for them, and I even have a hard time putting them here. But do not buy into the hype, remember the Cassel we saw in the pre season? He beat the Chiefs in week 1, wait until they play a real football team. (CK) |
| (14) Bills | Another largely improved squad. Marshawn is looking good, and Edwards can get the job done. With the compliment of Parish on special teams, this team will put up big numbers, and they looked very well oiled in Week 1. (CK) |
| (15) Broncos | Cutler is already in stride for his breakout season. Another team whose defense will dictate how the season goes. (RK) |
| (16) Browns | Tough first game, but they have too many weapons to count out this early. Braylon and K2 will bounce back and have strong years. DA looked decent, but with BQ on his tail, he will have to perform (CK) - Now hiring Cornerbacks (SS) |
| (17) Titans | Turmoil and uncertainty might be a huge distraction for this team. Especially with the drama surrounding VY (SS) |
| (18) Ravens | The Pro Football Prospectus loves them this year, and they surprised a lot of people by dominating the Bungles in their home opener. Can Flacco and the D keep it up? (VC) |
| (19) Cardinals | Warner makes them relevant again, but how good is their D? (SS) |
| (20) Seahawks | Burleson's done for the year, weak OL, and a porous D... Maybe Branch and Engram can come back soon and give them some life? (CK) |
| (21) Bucs | This is a consistently solid team on the defensive end, but they need to find a wayto put up some points consistently on the offensive end. Brian Griese takes over the helm in week 2, so let's see what happens. (VC) |
| (22) Falcons | Good win, but we'll see what happens when every team stuffs 8 in the box, and forces the rookie to beat them. (RK) |
| (23) Vikings | Yes I know A.P. is great, and that D is rock solid, but we are ranking a TEAM here, and as long as that clown is their QB, Minn is going nowhere. People bought into the hype way too early here. (CK) |
| (24) Texans | They simply ran into the wrong team to start out the season. Defense is young and hungry, and Schaub to Johnson will be a force (provided the force stays healthy). (RK) |
| (25) Redskins | I would like to sympathize with Jason Campbell, learning 8 different offenses in the past 10 years (dating back to Auburn). Not sure if this pure West Coast Offense is going to make things any different. (RK) |
| (26) Bengals | For me the Bungles are one of the biggest disappointments in the league so far. With such a talented offense, they shouldn't be this bad. But it looks like this is the same Bungles team we saw struggle last year. Ocho Cinco, TJ, and Carson need to start doing something on Offense. Hell if the Bungles are going to be this bad, at least put up some good offensive numbers for us fantasy owners! (VC) |
| (27) 49ers | Gore is a monster. Martz is an evil genius. But can J.T. be steady enough to give the offense some balance?(RK) |
| (28) Dolphins | Pennington is going to keep them in a lot of games, but this team is just too young. (SS) |
| (29) Lions | How's arguably the best WR core in the league, a functional QB, and an impressive RBBC so bad? Oh ya I forgot that defense is apart of football. Apparently so did the Lions. (CK) |
| (30) Raiders | At least it looks like a fun team you can use in Madden '09 right? Individual talent doesn't win games. (RK) |
| (31) Chiefs | This team and O-Line just have too many holes and problems right now, thus making them one of the worst teams in the League. LJ and TGO can only do so much. The defense is too young to stop anyone right now, so look for a long and another losing season for the Chiefs. (VC) |
| (32) Rams | The O-Line is already decimated (like last year). The defense porous (like last year). Marc Bulger and SJax aren't the same (like last year)(RK) |
