Reggie Love: From Walk-on to White House

Throughout the 90's and early part of this decade, Duke basketball was synonymous with "unfulfilled promise." As in college studs not living up to their NBA potential, or just suffering plain bad luck (see Laettner, Hurley, Jay Williams, or even GHill).

Unfulfilled promise?! Over the last few years, that couldn't be any further from the truth. The likes of Brand, Boozer, Maggette, and Deng have changed the post college "bust" belief of Duke Basketball players. Now comes along another former Dukie making noise. This is the story of Reggie Love.

Sports enthusiasts may remember Love as being a Duke Wide Receiver and a walk-on during Duke's 2001 Basketball National Title Run. But, no walk-on to NBA stardom fairy tale here. After graduating from Duke, Love hoped to pursue his childhood dream of being a professional athlete. Neither the NBA nor the NFL came calling for Love. However, his work ethic, pedigree, and good looks (no homo) didn't go unnoticed. Barack Obama's staff came across Love's resume, and asked him to be Obama's Right-hand man. He immediately turned down an offer at the uber-prestigious Goldman Sach's for the best $30,000 a year job in the World. Though not on the hardwood now, the sky's the limit for Love and his political future. ESPN's E:60 takes you along the rest of the journey, and great story of Reggie Love...

There's about a thousand other things that come to mind about Duke BB before that.

Perhaps Obama is a fan of tea. Reggie's a big fan of the bags.
