HESTER HOLDING OUT

We all knew it was coming didn't we? There is no way Devin Hester is going to play for $450 k this year, we all know that. I was just hoping the Bears would have gotten Hester's contract done before camp started, but apparently they missed the memo.

Now let's give the Bears a little bit of credit, they did extend all their own core player's contracts in this off season, which was a step in the right direction for sure. This off season was capped off by redoing number 54's contract a couple of days ago. But, no one can argue that DH23 might be the Bear's most important player, other than Tommie Harris and Brian Urlacher. I mean honestly if the Bear's don't have Hester, they might not even score this year!!!

All joking aside, Hester is the man, and he deserves to get paid. Now I know Hester wants to get paid a top WR's salary, and the Bear's want to pay him top returner money, but both sides are going to need to compromise. I'm actually thinking it would be nice if the Bears can give him a nice signing bonus, pay him a couple mill more than the top returners in the game, and then have a bunch of incentives in his contract, which would give him a lot more money if he puts up top WR numbers this year. Going into his third year in the league, and 2nd year as WR, Hester very well may be able to bust out, and then get paid a ton of money if he has an incentive laden contract. I think this kind of contract would definitely be a compromise for both parties, so I am hoping they can get this done ASAP. With Hester still trying to become a full time WR, any time he misses in camp, is bad news for the entire offense. Let's see how this pans out, but I am not too worried, YET! You can read a lot more about this here, at ChicagoSports.com. Let me know what you guys think about this as well...

Also, since Bears camp started today, we will give you ESPN'S 2008 Chicago Bears Preview, which isn't really good, below. You can also read about today's camp details here...
